Considering that thanks has been proven to be more of a "your trolling made me laugh" thing than a "your post was helpful" thing, I don't see why not. But since it's probably never gonna happen, I guess we'll just have to wait for the next major forum catastrophe where everyone is about to leave for them to implement it.
