So I read a really cool post, and need some advice.

The only thing that might ever be worth taking on debt for the sake of having, has four walls and/or an address. Otherwise, debt = slavery.
As an example, I will say that in the last 8 years, I've made about $30,000/USD after taxes. With that money, I've been able to live comfortably. I own some property in the mountains, a reliable vehicle, and have been all over the planet... all on less money than a lot of people spend on their car. I do have about seven years of hard work and frugal living ahead of me, but I'm confident that I will be retired at 35 years old with a reasonably comfortable, but still frugal lifestyle. I may take out a 20hrs/week job at that point to maintain some social contact, or I might spend a few years reading on the beach first. Thing is, I'll have freedom of choice. To me, that is worth more than a BMW or a yacht or a 50" HDTV.
The biggest piece of advice I could give to any young person here is to start saving your money now. Don't buy anything you can't pay cash for, and don't pay cash for something you can get cheaper later on in life or don't really need anyway. Don't drink or smoke up all of your money, don't eat out five times a week, and learn a trade that can be undertaken anywhere in the world. Don't go to jail, don't get speeding tickets, and don't marry/have children before you can afford it. Wear simple clothing, cut your own hair, and learn to do without things like cable television, expensive cell phones, and anything made by Apple. These small things really add up over the course of your life.
Disregard anything I've said if you're wealthy or want to still be working at the age of 60.

I've decided to stop wasting money on things.
I just dry shaved. It kind of hurt at first, but my face feels awesome. It actually feels better than using shaving cream. I feel like a man for once (no homo). What are some other ways I can save money? Things I don't need to spend cash on?
Also what's the point of underwear? Like, is there a point, or are they just a waste of money?

Save energy and money and do your brain a favour. Turn off your TV.
That honestly is the most rotting piece of trash ever to degrade humans in modern society, and it wastes energy and money to do it
http://www.brainsturbator.com/articl...ox_tv_science/
http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/20...-heart-disease
As for clothing, thrift stores, counterfeit from the market (who the fuck cares if they're fake- most people won't even tell the difference or say shit about it to your face anyway) or stolen. I was and still am partially in the "casual" scene, most of these casuals wearing brand clothing like Stone Island, Paul & Shark, CP, Prada and Burberry, half of the time it's been stolen; and if it's something you've never seen in stores before in your country then it's 100% guaranteed to be stolen when they've gone abroad. It's all a part of the culture.
Most of my clothes are bought from thrift stores or stolen from brand clothing stores.
don't steal them if you're not comfortable with the chance you may get caught.
For internet, get a laptop, wifi and leech off other peoples' connections.
As for more money making or winning bets with friends to get extra money or things like cigs, well I've made posts about that befor eon the website. If you're a smoker may times I've won extra cigs through cig bets.
Personally I always used to do cigarette bets when I was in school when we were at the smokers wall at break time, they never until this day figured out how I did it; I ended up making a lot of extra cigs off people in those bets and then selling them to other students, 50p per cig.
Here's what I used to do
A trick I'd learnt from my grandad a long time ago.
Oh and a few sneaky ways of getting free or cheap food at other items are complaint letter writing scams.

Complaint letter writing is easy, quick to do (hell there's even complaint "templates" online) not to mention free stuff/coupons kick ass. Free food tastes especially better.
Writing the Letter of complaint
BASIC outline
# Use block letter format (Left aligned, no indents)
# Outside Address
# Inside address
# Greeting
# Three body paragraphs.
# Closure
# Typed name and signature
Extra notes:
# Start with the origin of purchase
# Research the company address
Greeting:
When writing about a problem with retail sales, service, or catalog sales, the greeting is "dear customer service", but say you were writing to a restaurant, you'd say "Dear Manager" (or look up or call and get the managers name), or drop by if it's local and take a business card.
Say the problem with as much details/specifics as you can, such as dates, parties involved and the problem. Show them "photocopies" of reciepts (there are generators on the internet and software for making them such as dPOS)
Include photos of the "problem" if you can fake it, if need be, an example where you wouldn't need this is if you were trying to get something like free petrol.
Don't give your "age" or anything that could give away your age.
Second paragraph
# Tell them what you want without telling them what you want. (imply)
# Ask about policies, rather than making a demand
-Refund
-Repair
- Replacement
- Return
- Warranty
And many more.
Third Paragraph
Use this sentence: "Thank you very much. I would appreciate the courtesy of a written response and I look forward to hearing from you soon."
Close it off with your name and signature.
Remember:
Be kind and be specific.

Re: So I read a really cool post, and need some advice.
You don't need to wash clothes so often - particularly if you use a launderette, this will save money. Just hang your shirt up near the window and by morning it should be fine. Wash your socks in the shower, put them on the radiator and they'll be ready by morning.
You don't need shower gels/soap, it's bullshit. Don't buy them. Shave without creme/gel too, once you get used to it, it's fine. Cut your own hair, much cheaper, easier too.
You can keep in good shape without a gym, but if you really do enjoy lifting - buy or make your own equipment - works out much cheaper in the long run, in fact ridiculously cheaper.
Don't buy fast food, just get basic good food and learn to cook for yourself. For some this may be hard, but I am very content with "plain" food so this is never a problem. I do cook some decent meals but most of the time I can't be arsed. Some good ideas in gluttons and gourmets if you want to trawl through everything.
Download everything - books, music, films, tv shows. From free networks if you can.
If you need a car get a cheap one, this will save you a god damn fortune.
Try to limit the time you spend going out drinking - this costs a fortune compared to brewing your own, or buying from supermarkets. This is actually my one vice at the moment. If you're really concerned with money at this point, just minesweep (steal other peoples drinks). Pre-drinking is a good idea too, get hammered and then hit the town. Good things to get are super lagers (9% shizz) and recently recommended to me by another member of this website, black absinthe.
Cheap living is fine, I'd say I've always lived comfortably.

The only way to succeed is to cut spending out on things that you don't care about. You need to be able to enjoy your life in the present as well.
Was saving $.05 really worth the pain of shaving without shaving cream? If it was, then good for you. If it wasn't, you're better off spending the $1 on generic shaving cream and cutting expenses elsewhere. Also, you want to look at bigger expenses that can be cut. Even if you stop using shaving cream, that saves you what, $10-20 a year max? It's a start, but you can do better.
Think about the things that you spend money on. What can you cut down on? Do you go out to eat a couple of times a week? I go out to eat maybe once or twice a month. I went to Whataburger tonight and was so fucking mad afterward because I bought an egg sandwich and the bastards didn't put cheese on it, which ruined my fucking sandwich. Fuck restaurants. As you can see, I have no problem saving money on food...
As far as underwear goes, that's up to you. Technically they're unnecessary, but look at the big picture. By wearing underwear, you keep your jeans clean longer and can therefore wear them more in between washings, which also extends the life of your jeans.

Re: So I read a really cool post, and need some advice.
I've always been baffled at how people scoff at "low" incomes like 40k. A single person can live like a king on that type of yearly salary, but so often you see people willfully throwing their tens of thousands of dollars down the drain with credit. You can dress classy on a department-store budget. You can eat 5-star meals nightly if you take the time to learn how to cook. You can fill your apartment with all sorts of books, paintings, statues, and furniture for relative chump change thanks to EBay, craigslist, and yard sales.
Here are the facts: You can live very well in any city on 13 to 15k per year. I'm talking a comfortable 2 to 3 room apartment, a fully stocked kitchen, internet, and more than enough left over for regular partying and occasional bouts of shopping. Why do people making entry-level salaries feel the need to throw away their income by buying some 60k car on credit, immediately having kids, or locking themselves in with a mortgage? (Pro-tip: If something costs several times your yearly salary, you can expect to be stressed by bills for a dozen years to come.) Take a step back, stop being an asshole, open a savings account, work for a few years, and then masturbate with that 100k financial cushion you built practically overnight.

Underwear can also reduce chaffing. The seam of a a pair of bottoms can be quite harsh on your crap. There's nothing like a good pair of compression shorts. Something with a pouch can also be good, but make sure it has a fabric blend that's similar to what something like under armour uses (mostly a type of polyester and lycra) and a good design so it won't ride up or anything. Comfort is very important, for me, if I'm uncomfortable it just ruins everything; it's such a basic thing.

The general consensus is that you need to stop being such a cheap cunt, and that shaving without cream isn't going to save you shit.

This is why I don't wear underwear. Yes it gets your jeans dirtier but only slightly so and if you're not growing you don't have a need to buy new jeans every year (at least in my climate).

Re: So I read a really cool post, and need some advice.
Washing your ass with soap and water or at least water makes everything much better. It doesn't take long and knowing that your ass is perfectly clean feels fantastic. Just strip down and position your crack under the bathtub faucet and do a quick wash, then dry off. You can also sit over the edge of the tub and do it that way filling a container with water and pouring it on your crack or using a hand held shower head.

That's just not reality. Maybe for a lot of places, but there are plenty of cities where 13-15k a year would not cover the rent of any apartment over a single. And even the single would leave you nothing for anything else. That's why people move away from them once their career is finished so they can afford retirement.
