My city is considering a State Of Emergency
http://www.lfpress.com/news/london/2.../16454711.html
I've never heard of my city ever call a state of emergency, This is really bad ! . Worst snow storm I have ever seen in my lifetime .
Here in London,Ontario it has been snowing STEADY for the past 3 days !,24.7 cm total of snow last december , 100 cm within the first week of decemeber this year . Public transportation is shut down, Government services ( postal and w.e ), Buisnesses, Schools , Doctors office's ..All shut down ! The plow trucks are not working, SOOO many car accidents.
Im trapped in my appt because no one has cleared the parking lot and my car has about 3.5Ft of snow all around and on top of it. I've seen at least 10 people get stuck in the parking lot , Some people 3 times in one day. The city is telling people to stay off the roads unless you absolutly have to !
It's still snowing steady and its -9 wind chill .

Re: My city is considering a State Of Emergency
This is part of the global climate change phenomenon where summers are becoming much hotter and winters are shorter but more intense. Right now would be the perfect time to be a criminal in London, Ontario. You should prepare to burn any and all forms of wood and paper in your possession because I suspect a power outage is coming to a town near you.

Im far from being a pussy.
I don't have a shovel, I need to borrow one from somebody.
But even then, Removing the amount of snow that has engulfed my car and removing enough snow around my car in the parking lot so I can back out and go with a Shovel is not a very good plan. We need this city to come and plow the parking lot, Then I can go ahead and spend 2 hours hand bombing all of the 70cm of snow off and around my car.
I will walk to were ever I need to go in the time being, Im use to harsh Canadian winters. I just water-proof my boots and I have a new tough duck bomber, Gloves , Hats..ect
Edit: Having a team of dogs and a sleigh would be fucking awesome right now, That or a snowmobile.

Dude... Your Canadian so do it like a Canadian... Just add Whiskey a few friends and some hockey sticks.
Also what part of London are you at? I used to live off Hamilton and Eggerton close to that Asian food mart place.

Re: My city is considering a State Of Emergency
Whenever it snows like that around here use my snow mobile for transportation. Not exactly street legal though. Best way / time to buy and do drugs. There is nothing on so you don't feel like a scum plus it would be nearly impossible for a cop to pull me over in a car. I can get up to 80mph on my shyt

Yeah man I had some great times watching the chinks hit each others cars at that place.. I used to sit at that starlight place across the street sip a pop and read mags until the show started on the odd day.
And since you're close to the mall see if they got it plowed out. It'd be fucking tits to go there at night with some friends and start up a game of street ball and have a few bottles hidden in the snowbanks.

Will do... I'm planning on getting it all set up before the may 24 as I've had a few requests to be the official fire pit lighter guy. They think I'm bringing what I got in the vid but I plan on something much more pants crapping horrifying than that.
Also have a few back shelved projects besides that... Just wait until you see what I'm doing to a chainsaw...

Re: My city is considering a State Of Emergency
100 cm is just over three feet, that's really not that much snow. It snowed about that at my house in Tahoe over the past week.
But we have snowplows and snow tires, and shovels. Whenever a city gets snow its just chaos. People are all like wtf is this shit

Re: My city is considering a State Of Emergency
Its chaos here..deffinatly one for the history books.
In a city with the population of roughly 352395 people, only one third of the streets are plowed. We have already had more than half as much snow then we usualy get in winter which is typicaly 200cm .

Believe it or not, some stores are not within walking distance, not to mention if theres 3 or more feet of snow on the ground. It would take me like 7 hours to walk to my LCBO in deep snow. I'd loose my fucking toes before I even started the return home trip.

Lol, on this I agree with you completely.
The city should only plow the roads to make them accessible, but parking lots should be shoveled by the owners.
Where I come from, we had lots of nasty winters. We even have a bad one right now, where most of the major cities were bogged down by enormous amounts of snow and we had temps go down to -20 C in the night.

Weather does seem to be getting more extreme. Floods, droughts, snow, whatever depending on the time of year and the area. I don't have anything to back this up, just an observation that could be wrong.

The city I live in is right in the thickest part of a Great Lakes snow belt. In 07 we had a total snow fall of 173 inches. I grew up in this area before leaving in 1979 and returning in 01. The storm ITT is commonplace to me.

You know what's even worse? When we over here, in Belgium, get as much as 5-10 cm of snow, traffic is completely jammed. Roads are dangerous as all hell.
I live in an awesome country.

I lived in Greensboro, NC for about 3 years. One winter it snowed about 3 inches and the entire county was paralyzed. They had no plows, salt, or sand. I sat in my apartment on the first morning of it watching people trying to get out of the parking lot.
There was an about a 4% grade for the last 10 - 15 feet of the parking lot heading up to the road. The locals were so clueless about driving in snow and ice they would creep to the incline and try to "gun" it up the snow and ice covered slope. After watching for about 30 minutes I warmed up my 1972 Mercury Monterey and got up to about 15 mph before i hit the "hill" and coasted right up slicker than snot as the locals sat stuck in the lot behind me.

Re: My city is considering a State Of Emergency
Using a snow shovel doesn't sound very efficient to move 3.5 ft of snow out of 5000+ sq ft area...Soo if you think waiting for a snow plow is being a pussy then you should be shot and pissed on lol .
