I will spell this out once - since I am probably the 'youngest member of the oldest members'.

Back in the day when those that could get on the net - but had to work a hell of a lot of shit out to get on it - read books and copy lines of code from bi-monthly magazines to get shit to work, and most often it did not, and we had to work it out for ourselves and try and keep on trying until we found a way in to the internet - then - anyone that was there had an underlying respect for others that could get there.

Now, anyone can go to the library and even if they do not know shit, the librarian will show them what they need to know. People do not have respect for the fact that others 'got there'. It is too easy now.

When my neighbour removed the internet explorer icon from their desktop and wants me to fix her 'deleting the internet', it does make me long for the old days.

It did not matter what you had to say, as you would put the time and intention into saying what you meant with as much sauce and effort as you had done to get to that place.

People today take it for granted.

Be aware that you are talking to a group of people who do not 'take it for granted'. We sought and developed knowledge to do this. We did not invent the internet, but we did make it.
