the town isnt that much of a shithole. nothing big of course though. but its nothing like what he is making it out to seem. it could just have been a slow night. and most mall stores start closing up about an hour before the actual mall does.

Interestingly, I work in technical events/stage stuff (lights, sound and rigging for gigs and corporate do's) and I've never been busier. So many lavish parties for magazines, companies big and small, fashion shows, awards ceremonies, art galleries etc wanting ££££ of lights/sound rigged, cost no object...

I'm not complaining as the money is rather good. Haven't seen any signs of an economic holocaust from my viewpoint, although the gov't is constantly pushing up VAT and taxes at an alarming rate.

IMO if there was a major economic downturn, I'd be out of work by now as events and parties are a luxury, not a necessity.

This, these events can accommodate 50,000+ people also. So if doomsday does come in the form of money being worthless, survival points are a matter of a few truckloads of equipment.

Infrastructure already exists to treat sewerage, store waste, etc.

IF it ever did happen not every person is a lazy loon and would put in time without pay to make society work. A water treatment plant won't just stop because of the economy, the chemicals they need won't all of a sudden be impossible to manufacture.
