imaginary conversations (conversations in your mind)
Do you have conversations with your self, or imaginary characters, or imaginary characters based on real people ? Furthermore are these people real? or are they just artificial intelligence and conversation created by ones imagination?
And if you do, what do you talk about?

I have that too, often I replay conversations inside my head giving them an alternate ending or something. I mostly use it as a tool to improve my social skills.

Re: imaginary conversations (conversations in your mind)
Most people talk with themselves one time or another, usually quietly. As long as you don't do it all the time I think its healthy and good.

Re: imaginary conversations (conversations in your mind)
It is not having conversations in one's mind less of the time, but rather a fault in the brain, which causes the brain to only talk to itself and not simulate other minds correctly.
Having the imaginary conversations is fine, even if you do it a lot; as long as you do it right.

Re: imaginary conversations (conversations in your mind)
I think about situations that can arise with people in my life based on events that are occurring. I'll sometimes have a mock conversation with that person, think about all the things they may say and how they'll react to what I say. I practice like this a lot, and think about how they will feel too. In some aspect, I actually devote a part of my brain to becoming that person, so I can actually feel their position in the conversation. I can maintain two or three people's thought processes at once in my head, but I'm in control of these conversations, and these other personas dissipate once I cease the thoughts. People often respond to me saying that it's like I'm really connected to them. To some extent, they are part of me. Whenever I talk to someone, I'm already contemplating their reaction before I even open my mouth, so I can preempt everything. When I was a kid, I'd use this in evil ways, by pretending to be that person, and creating conversations with a goal in mind to manipulate them. Since I actually mimic people so well, I could come up with the right things to say to get the desired result. When put into practice, it's about 99% affective. It's pretty handle being able to mimic another persons mindset.

I do it constantly. Even now.
It's not something I do consciously either, it just happens, I'll be acting like I'm explaining stuff to someone else; A sort of commentator on my own life... If you've ever seen Dexter you'll know what I mean.

It's virtually impossible to avoid doing this.

i can't stop thinking to myself. the longest i can last is like 2 seconds before my mind starts its internal monologue again. i'm constantly thinking in words in my mind and i wish i knew how to turn it off.

Try meditation. Or dissociation.
PM me if you need help.

Re: imaginary conversations (conversations in your mind)
Depersonalization Disorder? That's highly unlikely from using dissociatives.
I was merely suggesting a low dose to facilitate meditation, thus allowing you to experience its glory sooner.
Dissociatives aren't a long term solution, no, but they can be valuable tools. Used correctly.

I talk to myself, but usually its when I'm working on solving something. Then if I'm under the influence of certain substances, we carry on coversations about conspiracys and pholosiphys

I do that too though.
For me, it's just a matter of simulating how a future conversation with another person might go. I can't see how it would in any way be bad for the social skills.

Re: imaginary conversations (conversations in your mind)
All the fucking time. More than ever since my wife disappeared. Yeah, I talk to my son and the fellow european workers at the slaughterhouse and the spics when I need to, but I REALLY like my own company as well. I talk out loud to myself about situations I put myself into, inside my head. I'll make up a best friend and give him a name, talk to him, and talk back as that person or a group of people in a different tone of voice. It's an escape from the shit reality, sometimes. I day dream a lot, but I'm out loud about it. I always make out I'm on the phone when my son comes in the room when I'm doing it.
I'll give comentary on myself too.
I REALLY DON'T GIVE A FUCK, I FEEL GREAT.

Me too, minus the silent part.
I do too much thinking according to other people, but I'd probably go insane if I didn't. I laugh to myself a lot too.

Re: imaginary conversations (conversations in your mind)
I'll do it with people I know in real life as well. I'll start a coversation about something and change my voice to impersonate them and have a conversation with them about whatever. Mainly all about a situation I wish would happen in life with these "people" I'm talking to.
It's hard to explain, hopefully you guys get me. But I'm not holding my breath for that.

Re: imaginary conversations (conversations in your mind)
No fucking shit, but why? I don't even know myself, it's not as if I don't get out with my friends, don't talk to people in real life, or have a son to take care of. I jut like taking myself out of a shit world and placing or imagining and acting out my own situations to myself whether an argument or just a civil conversation with someone I've made up or a friend I know in real life or off the internet and talk to them, but obviously they're not really there and I'm talking to myself.

Re: imaginary conversations (conversations in your mind)
I've only done this once. I had to take a trip to Poland all by myself, the total journey, from getting picked up in front of the agency, to when I stepped into this tiny motel room I rented in Poland, took about 25 hours. I debated random subjects with myself while on the plane and in the airport.

Re: imaginary conversations (conversations in your mind)
Yeah I invented 8 other people that live inside my head. Each one takes care of different situations. It's easier to make decisions that way and not overthink stuff too much.

This sounds interesting. Division of labour ftw.
I feel I've created some abstract personalities in my mind as well, might have something to do with years of drugs, idk. Mine don't do anything helpful though, they just kind of fuck around.

Yup, division of labor. I nickname them:
'Peacemaker'
'Human'
'Doubtful'
'Dreamer'
'Megalomaniac'
'Soldier'
'Corruption'
'Visceral'
Most of them work out quite well but it sucks when they have an "arguement" inside my head. Maybe I'm just fucking crazy though.

Re: imaginary conversations (conversations in your mind)
Yeah, I have conversations in my head, usually with actual people. I don't have any made up personas or anything. It usually is planning for future conversations, etc. I guess I do narrate my life to myself a lot, too. I'm very metacognitive; it's sometimes almost like I'm sitting back observing my own thoughts occurring in my head rather than actually thinking them.

Sounds like you are bout as normal as most humans. I've got an internal dialogue, less now then before but I don't see it as a big deal. It only is a big deal if you make it a big deal. Start worrying about it and find a crutch that some doctor prescribes, you should be ok.

I do that all the time to, I don't think it's that helpful though I just end up reliving conversations I've had months or years ago and I think it just ends up making me too concious of what I've said/am about to say.
