Default What's your outlook on death?

What will you feel on your deathbed? Would you want to cling to life? Would you cry at dying and leaving everything behind?

When I had my near death experience, and thought I was facing my final seconds, the last thing that went through my mind was...

"what was the point of all that?"

Explain? I'm very fearful for some reason. I dunno. I never want to go. I want to stay. I'm trying to prepare myself. for when I do have to go. Its a fucked up thought that one day you and I and everyone you and I know will die. It's so scary.

Nobody else was at the beach; just the way I liked it since I was self conscious around other people. Unfortunately, I was immediately pulled into a rip, with nobody around to help me. Water was shooting down my throat as I was dragged and out and under into the ocean. I couldn't even struggle - I was basically a rag doll with no chance of saving myself.

I couldn't breathe, I was deep under the water, and I couldn't move. I realized that was the end of my life and thought how pointless it was. Like, what was the point of my fucking existence? Go to school, get rejected and made fun of by people, AND NOW IM ABOUT TO DIE LOL. There was no point to anything. I always kind of knew life was pointless - but it wasn't until that point where I was dying that I fully realized it. It was like revelation.

A bit after that I became a nihilist. It makes me facepalm to hear people say "LOL UR A NIHILIST?!??!?! I BET U DONT EVEN THINK LIEF IS POINTLESS UR JUST DOIN IT FOR ATTENSION!!!!!111111" Ugh... but you know, whatever. That near death experience changed me for the better I think; I don't really care as much about things as I used to (believe it or not, considering all of my crybaby rants). I used to hold grudges for years, but now I'm like "meh".

Don't worry about being scared of death. I used to be afraid of it as well; but when it's actually happening you immediately accept it. The way you think changes.

I've contemplated death, have had several near death experiences, have taken others lives, and nearly my own on several occasions. I know what its like to be dead inside. After near death experiences I feel like I should have died and all time after that is just extra time. All that you have built up over your life, all that money, all those relationships, all those revelations mean nothing after you're dead. So why bother giving a fuck? I say just live life to its fullest and fuck anyone who gets in your way.

Unfortunately, it's programmed into a lot of people's brains that "living your life to the fullest" includes all of the trivial shit that actually doesn't matter - getting money, having revelations, all those relationships, etc. Obviously parts of those matter to an extent - but, shit this is hard to explain. It's really nothing I can describe anyway, it's something everyone has to think through for themselves.

The best way to live your life to the fullest is with a schedule, methinks.

I mean, I can't let go. Suddenly, I feel like I have to somehow outrace death. It is very weird. I can't imagine just... stopping. I remember my school and my friends, who I had the best times of my life with, but whom I will never see again. Somehow, I wish that it never ended; that we could have always been the way we were, the anticipation of growing a beard, the jokes, the fights, the hiding of bad results and the flaunting of the good. I wish that it could have stayed that way forever.

Time is passing, and I don't want it to.

I had this all written out nicely once before but have since then had a hard drive failure. I have begun re-writing it, but it is not complete. I would happily share with you what I have.

Death:

When you die, you will cease to be able to observe the universe, retain any memory of it. However so, The universe does not cease to exist when you close your eyes forever. Your life, your body, your memories have all existed, all do exist, and all will exist in the infinite spatial dimension of time.

Death is certainly a strange door, through which we all must pass. Through this door you cannot take your possessions, nor your loved ones, nor your memories, nor even your ego, or what you likely consider your “self”. When you die, and your heart stops beating and your brain stops sending and receiving signals, you will cease to be able to observe the spatial plains.

Time however is infinite, and eternal. Everything you ever have done, and ever will do, or if we graze into the realm of probability, anything you ever could do, exist as one solid state of now and forever. You will not be alive to remember yourself, but you will always exist, you will just stop remembering that you do, or be able to observe yourself as you are now. But what you see around you and what you know in your mind will all be there when you are “gone”, and they are a part of you.

You are a singularity of the universe observing itself. You are the world you see through your eyes, and you will never, really, die.

Taoism teaches humans to give up the feeling of being in charge of anything and letting things take their own course. If there is a afterlife, heaven, hell, nirvana, nothingness of rotting in the ground, ect when we die, just accept whatever happens.

It's going to happen regardless of whether it's worried about it. So, just focus on life.

I think I'll be okay on my deathbed. Perhaps sad to go, but not disappointed about how life turned out. I faced down, got beaten senseless by, and ultimately accepted and reconciled with metaphysical reality (or at the very least, reconciled with the need to reconcile) already; so I think I can die at peace with existence.

The way I sees it, it's amazing that life is even possible to begin with; me.. siting here.. typing on this computer.. communicating my thoughts.. Imagine if the Earth was a little too close to the sun. What then?

Had a couple near death experiences. Im cool with it. It made me realize how easy it is to die and how fragile humans actually are. Ill be happy on my deathbed.

O death, I know there is no other way. I need to die, I want to die.

But I'm so scared, I can't do this I know I can't. This is not right, maybe a mistake?

They won't answer.

I can't escape from death, but I'm trying very hard to accept it. This also applies to age too.
