Embarrassed Premium SMS, my new favourite hobby.

I haven't checked out the US prices, but in the UK, you can buy a premium rate SMS number for an average fixed fee of £100, with an average monthly 'maintenance' of £15.

You can choose the cost of texting your number. Anything from £0.25 per text to £10. Naturally you ramp that shit up to max.

Then you dress in your most respectable attire, wander into town and tell people you're supposed to meet your friend, but you forgot where, and you're out of credit. Do they mind if you use their phone to send a quick text?

Send two in quick succession, and hand back the phone.

Repeat on the next asshole.

???

Profit.

i don't get it.

firstly i've never heard of these kinds of numbers, but that aside, what does costing some random stranger 10 pounds do to benefit you? you're saying the money goes to you? why? what kind of number is that?

Question Re: Premium SMS, my new favourite hobby.

I am very interested in this idea, from what I can gather there are two types of billing, MT or mobile terminated where the user is billed for receiving a message and the other one's name escapes me but I believe they are billed upson sending the message. I think the provider gets a share as well.

If enough people report your number though I think you can get in trouble.

Anyone have any experience with this idea? I am also very keen on learning more.

another OP looking for intercredit.

if its so great why you not out there robbin people?

these services are heavily regulated,as you know, especially in the uk.

£10 per text? pics or it didnt happen

ID documentation, bank account numbers etc all come into play with this one.

and with these services you get a commision per text.

okay so lets say youre in town now and you ask to use someones number,i hope you know how to put there phones on silent and i hope you got the time to reply back to the terms and coditions of service

There have been many fraudsters that have had a good time fuckin gover premium phone lines.

Basically, just card a bunch of SIM cards/anon phones and open your own Premium Phone line.

Proceed to cashing out all carded sim cards.

This only lasts for around 2 weeks and your line gets shut down dough.

Which is ok until they check their credit or bill and dispute it with the phone company.

So many strikes and well the cops come a knocking.

Technically it isnt illegal depending on how it is done. Frank Abagnale discusses this scam in his book The Art of Fraud
