Fuck my American generation

I worked at my local library for about 2 years. Everyday i would sit at the desk and watch my peers come in and use myspace/facebook. There would be a 2 hour waiting list to get onto our computers because of this.I would have to tell people coming in to do there taxes or do research for school that they would have to wait because of all these 15-30 year olds who wanted to talk to people they already knew. There was one girl who would even be waiting outside the doors before we opened so she could go on myspace. I've seen 20 year old mothers letting there children run through the rows of books unsupervised while she changed her layouts. It's such a horrible sight to see. So much knowledge preserved in neat rows that i kept clean being discarded for a site that creates nothing new but simply mediates friendships that already exist.

this generation is a horrible one , Narcism is the new epidemic of the century.
To think we will be in power in less than 20 years is a time i fear.

That being said i cant wait for 2012

Knowledge seems to be becoming less desirable and being sexy and fucking random myspace/facebook people without a condom so you can make a myspace/facebook for your little kid with an unknown father. Fuck! Then 14 years from now the kid will get/get some bitch pregnent and will be the coolest shit in school cause they had sex with some dumb myface slut/turd. I especially hate when you see these parents come in and they are bringing at least 2 or 3 screaming kids and the kids will not shut the hell up. It's hard enough trying to write an essay with out a fucking kid screaming and now because some asshole feels as though they should bring their little screaming jerk or trouble making piece of shit into the quietness that is the library pisses me off. Whatever happened to beating your kids?

Last time I was in a library, I desperately needed to edit a paper for about 10 minutes.

Every motherfucking computer was taken by people with giant big gulps and shit just all slouched over watching youtube and livejournaling and shit.

There were even a couple jackasses on the two "work only" computers not doing any work. No paper, no pens, no backpack, no disks or flash drive. Just surfin'. (GIANT SIGN : 15 minute limit)

Then I was like ~{}~

So I go over to the far corner out of sheer desperation to the "groups only" computer. There's one big fat bitch with ginger dreadlocks and a giant coffee just sitting there surfing the web.

I am pretty god damned pissed off at this point, so I go over to a nearby desk and get out my rough draft and start to white-out and proof-read the shit out of it by hand, which is highly annoying. I watched those computer seats like a hawk for about a half-hour, and no one moved except for a sibling going up to another sibling and trading seats. NO ONE MOVED.

I was all for the rest of the day, and turned in a sloppy, crayon-riddled "final draft."

Kids would go on for about 45 minutes and the desk clerks wouldnt notice or keep track. I've seen so many people sit in our little nook that stores all encylopedias and just wait and wait while some bitch with her kids by her feet just surfs. Or better yet I've seen poor white mothers bring in there kids so they can play with there webkinz.

The problem is every library is to chill to do anything , What case can they bring up and if they do no one cares and just hides there secret surfing. I'm just pissed that people would sooner pass up reading some Balzac or maybe further there perspective and check out some poets like Dylan thomas or something. Instead they go on myspace/facebook/livejournal/youtube. And just create nothing profound , nothing as far as thoughts , general just wasting bandwith and being a waste of a mind. It almost saddens me watching pretty much everybody in my generation waste a valuable resource like the internet on pointless things that have no long term intellectual benefit and instead waste it on their own vanity. Remember when the internet was called the "information super highway"? Why do you think it's not called that anymore (other than the fact the name is pretty campy)? It's because it's barely used for actual information anymore and now used for some of the lowest forms of entertainment.

Before the explosion of the middle class after the second World War, education was seen as one of the most important things one can obtain. If you had an education, you could go pretty much anymore in life because it showed a sign of wealth. Now it's seen as something that should be avoided and gets in the way of having a good time, which (if it continues) will lead to some major social problems (Ever seen the movie "Idiocracy"? Yeah, kinda like that). We need some kind of large catastrophe to set us straight again.

Blame it on Mr. Rogers? While I agree with much of what that article says, it drops that line about Mr. Rogers at the beginning to grab attention but never fleshes out exactly how he's supposed to be responsible for something bad about the generation growing up in the year 2009.

I used to watch Mr. Rogers, I know his show. I believe he started that whole "You're special" and "I like you just how you are" stuff before it became popular, before any of it got perverted by progressives into what is has become. Telling kids "you're special" used to mean what it meant before that got twisted into an underserving sense of entitlement.

Out of all the thousands of examples of harmful childhood influences out there (a disturbing amount of which are aimed towards very young children), I find it absolutely retarded that anyone would blame Fred Rogers.

Mr. Rogers had a solid message on his show that never changed with the fads or the times. He never had an agenda, he just made a simple kid's show extolling the virtues of honesty, sharing, creativity, etc..

The true sign of troubled times is when grown adults are blaming the crap being fed to kids on Mr. Freaking Rogers. I know who to blame, and it ain't Fred.
