You know the classic magician trick of cutting a person in half? Well, the assistant (also his wife) ends up gettin killed by a chainsaw to the throat.

Gonna have to call for fake on this one. After an intensive Internet search, nowhere does it even mention the name of either the magician or the assistant who supposedly died. Something this big would have been sure to have mentioned somewhere, but it's not. Also, nowhere in the vid itself does the commentator name any of the subjects involved, and merely refers to the assist as his "companion", and yet he goes into unnecessary detail mentioning they were "only married three months". On top of that, placing a cloth gag on the victim makes no sense... unless you want to give the impression that she is not able to call out. Being able to call out or not has nothing to do with the premise of the trick. Another big tell that it's fake is that you never see the blade of the chainsaw after the head is "cut off", because he deliberately bends down with it and tries to hide it behind the coffin. Even after he "sees what happened" he is still holding the chainsaw blade out of sight, but in reality, he would have dropped it the second he saw her in there dead. Good fake, but too many holes in it to be believable. There would have been a LOT more blood than the little squirt we saw there.

Fake for the reasons pointed out above. If there was blood squirting everywhere, maybe I would have believed it, but then it would still have to be backed up with multiple reports via Google.

He wouldn't have used a real chainsaw for the trick anyways, because nobody from the audience actually checks it. Magicians aren't going to place an extra element of danger into the situation if there's no need, and there was no need here on this one. What also makes me think it's fake is that, instead of the magician himself throwing down the chainsaw when he saw blood on it and ripping open the case, he just stands there shocked while his off-stage assistants do all the uncovering. I mean, it's supposed to be his new wife, so I hardly think he would just stand there for 30 seconds holding the chainsaw just staring. Just doesn't add up at all. None of it.

maybe the trick was to pretend to cut her head off and then have it really kill her accidentally, only for her to come back to life in the final trick?

Yet another thing was, if you looked closely and zoomed in, she wasn't even really trying to pull her head out of the front part of the box. All she was doing was shaking her head from side to side frantically. The trick supposedly involved the girl pulling her head out of the top part of the box and a fake head goes in its place, but I don't see any struggle to pull the head out at all... just the side-to-side motions... no force into the box. I know if that was me in there I'd be stretching my neck an extra 12 inches just to get some play going on in there.

I too feel its fake. Although I've never seen someone die by a chainsaw to the throat, I'm sure they would put up a little more fight than this. I don't see how someone can die instantly like that.

Yep.. with that clean of a cut the arms would have flopped for at least another 20 or so seconds. If you've ever seen a chicken running around the henhouse spraying blood all over the place, banging into walls, getting up again no problem and bashing into another wall, you know what I mean.
