Seriously, these soul-less bastards go around making buck by hijacking other people's cars against their will, and then charging THEM to get their vehicles back.

Businesses don't keep their properties up to code, don't warn you they'll tow you, and then send the fucking trucks out to steal your car. Universities are doing this more and more. Fucking unbelievable.

So, why is it tow truck drivers don't live in a perpetual state of fear that someone is going to slash their tires for being such pricks? Or that they're going to start to hijack someone's car and the person is going to come out and smash the tow truck windshield in with a sledge hammer?

I'm amazed that tow trucks aren't covered in spray paint and key scratches.

In many states/cities that's illegal; there either has to be a posted sign or the car has to sit for x number of hours before it can be towed, etc. It's good for getting everyone involved sued. A couple thousand bucks in damages isn't too bad for under an hour's work and a signed letterhead from your lawyer.

The jackholes that flat-out steal cars are actually pretty uncommon. They're just jackholes who've sucked enough dick at the county level to get a local ordinance passed that makes their tows legal. Or there is a small sign somewhere on the lot you just didn't see, because it was hidden.

Repo's I understand- you were LEGALLY BOUND to continue paying for that vehicle, which doesn't even BELONG to you until it's completely paid off. If you don't pay, they take it away. Same thing happens with any other bill. Don't pay rent- eviction. Don't pay electric- they shut it off. etc.

Towaway zones are iffy. I think a ticket would suffice in most cases, because yeah, you parked where you shouldn't. If there was a 2x3 foot sign with big bold letters saying TOW AWAY ZONE, and you parked right the fuck in front of it, your car is fair game dumbass.

I love those repo shows on TRU lol, but I really don't understand why people don't understand it's THEIR OWN DAMN FAULT. If I didn't make a payment on my car for 4 months, when the repo man showed up, I'd give him a key, grab anything I needed out of the car, and get his business card so I could get my car back if my luck turned around and I could afford it. These guys are just doing a job.

Tows are one thing, but I'd like to know how they get some of those rates and fees approved. I had a tow that cost $250 to get it out that same day in their business hours, and most of the time they'll tack on additional fees for daily storage and off hour claims. All for getting confused about which was "guest parking" and which was "resident parking".

I'm usually against government interfering with the markets, but this is getting out of hand. It's not like you can really boycott these cockbites.

Well most of them carry guns I'm pretty sure just in case of this kind of thing. On one of the repo shows I saw they actually had to pull it out once, guy was coming at them with a bat or something like that.
