Default Melee Combat Sparring. To prepare oneself for combat and have some fun.

So I've created a game-like organizational setup for sparring with fake weapons or otherwise. Just scribbles on my notebook organized here on zoklet but I must say that I am rather proud. :-)

My friends and I as of late have gotten together, used these myriad of foam, rubber, and sparring weapons one of my friends has, and started sparring with them in this park nearby. Its been damn fun and I must suggest anyone try it at least once. Feeling the actual adrenaline of combat is something everyone should experience. Without the uh...dying of course. However, not too many people are keen to be hit in the face with a rubber knife or take a padded sword to the neck so understandably not everyone might readily take this pastime up.

I have yet to show this to anyone. Please criticize as much as possible. I want this workable. If more scenarios can be created by others I would very much appreciate it and I hope if you are a martial artist or otherwise with a a bunch of bored friends this will strike your interest.

Melee Combat Sparring.

Armed:
Requires foam/rubber/padded fake weapons. Sword, knives, nunchuks, tomahawks, whatever. Your choice. (of course I'm not saying to buy these>>> http://www.rsw.com.hk/products.htm but whatever types are workable for hard full contact)

Requires Friends

Requires an open space with defined limitations or a large room clear of sensitive materials.

Also Requires:
-Mutual Respect
-Self Control
-Tolerance for pain
-Willingness to learn
-Willingness to fail
-Willingness to Succeed
-Serious Focus and Dedication

Purpose:
-To emulate, as closely as possible, real life melee combat conditions to prepare the participants for such inevitable situations. As a result, condition their bodies, preppare their minds, and tune their reflexes to the necessities of melee combat in life or death conditions...and have lots of fuckin fun meanwhile.

MCS by definition necessitates at least two people. Eight id the suggested range for the full amount of combat possibilities and fun.

Things to note: Some will be better than others. That natural. Not everyones talents naturally fall towards martial endeavors and that is ok. That doesnt mean that you can do anything if you are beaten, it means that you are that much closer to success. Learn and you will succeed and tenacity is one of the greatest qualities one can have in a fight along with calmness, patience, awareness, and lack of hesitation. Dont forget, its a fight. Be violent. Its just foam and rubber.

Don't forget that the following scenarios are fully malleable to your own ends for more fun, realism, or weirdness.

Oh, and careful with the eyes.

Scenarios:
-Free for all-- All vs. All

All participants start at different edges of a decided space. All weapons are in a randomly oriented circle or pile in the middle. At the shout of go all run to grab a weapon and combat begins.

-Team Battle-- 4 vs. 4

Two opposing teams each starting on different ends of a decided space. They may start armed or not. With different weapons or not. Using formations or not (definitely helps creating formations and commands in my experience).

-(n)Team Battle-- 2vs2vs2v2,3vs3vs3, etc.

Team battles with more than two teams.

-One on One-- 1vs.1

Self explanatory, respectful sparring with any variety of weapons.

-Catch the escapee(s)-- 7 vs. 1, 6 vs. 2

Must be in a grassy field. "Guards" form large circle around 1 or 2 escapees. They must make it to a certain edge or predecided point in the field. Only one "head guard" (unknown to the escapees who) has a knife that can "kill". They cannot be "killed" by other guards whose only goal is to restrain them. However, they posses knives. (that they stole from other guards )

-Assassin--1vs.2(n)

Has to be inside, clear open room, and complete darkness. All have swords except assasin. Everyone starts away from one another with assassin in the middle of the room. Once lights go off Assassin must kill all others. All others aim to kill the assasin. Yet one cannot swing blindly in the dark with many allies around. When one "dies" he says "down" and sits or takes a knee.

-Betrayer--4vs.4

Four pieces of scrap paper. 3 blank, one labeled "traitor". Jumbled into hat. Each member of one team takes a folded scrap, reads, and puts in pocket. This is done again with four more pieces of paper. Regular four vs. four ensues with both teams a bit more nervous.

-Watch your back--1vs1(+6)

Two sets of everyones name are put on small scraps of paper. In one set "kill" is written under the name, while on the other set "message". Scraps folded, put into a hat, and jumbled. Each person picks two names out of the hat. Goal is to deliver message in the order recieved (message - kill, or kill - message). First scrap put in left pocket, next scrap put in right. The message has to be four sentences. You cannot speak anything besides this message and to say it you must hold your right hand (can still hold your weapon to your heart) to your heart. When delivering a "message" you must be close enough to strike the person with your weapon. Either two or one will win.
