Default Burning lungs from cigarettes.

I've been smoking way too much and every day I decide to quit and end up smoking like 20 cigarettes. For the past few my lungs are really heavy, and stinging, and I can breath but it's definitely harder than normal. Do you guys know of any things I can take to clear my lungs out? I'm not doing meth, and I don't have any pseudoephedrine. Would a stimulant like caffeine do anything?

Heavy breathing. I've smoked a lot, but I do a lot of walking and that is pretty lung-clearing. Hot steamy air is good too. Use a vaporizer or sit in the bathroom with a tub full of hot water.

What about one of those inhalers they give to people with asthma, don't know if they'd work though.

Quit smoking. Its simple. In the first 4 days you'll go from having something like 3 cravings a day to like 10, but after that they decline pretty rapidly so that within a week you're having one or less.

Note that a craving is a physiological feeling that only last a couple minutes if you pay attention to it, though it may feel longer.

If you keep track of your progress like that you'll be able to kick the physical addiction real quick.

After that its a matter of not falling back into the routine and habbits. Smokes do serve a purpose, they make breaks in your day and your routine is likely based around them. You just gotta be smart about it.

If you're drinking, that's the hardest test.

When you're quitting, try and keep busy with work, study or even cleaning. Something to keep you occupied. I heard that eating lots of shit food helps too.

God speed mang, most important thing is to not convince yourself that you can't quit.

Oh and if you cave, don't try and justify it as an excuse to start up again. Quitting is a process, not an instant thing.

Oh I know what you mean man, I quit for 106 days last year, I didn't even have ONE puff because I knew exactly what nicotine was doing to my mind and I wasn't letting it fool me. One day I decided I'd be OK to smoke a cigar and the next day I was hooked on nicotine again and smoking. The first week is hard, the rest is easy. The first 3 days are ridiculously harder than the rest of them. I'm trying again, I've tried a few times but I can't seem to get passed the day 3 point. As soon as I make it through 3 days I'll be good.. the problem is you change your mind about quitting a lot when you're addicted to nicotine.

Yea quitting cigs is pretty easy, but staying quit is the hard part.

I kinda did give up smoking recently, it wasnt a conscious decision I just slowly stopped.

I dont smoke much now, not even one a day. When I used to smoke 10 to 15.

I smoked 10-15 a day for 8 years, quit for nearly 4 months, and now for about a year I've been smoking close to a pack (25 smokes in Canada) a day.

Yeah man I was only addicted for like 2 years and I quit for a good amount of time somewhere in between. But yeah, you gotta fight through all that self rationalization and shit. Don't let you trick yourself. Write out the truth of it on a piece of paper and make it your mantra.

Something like 'i know that right now I want a smoke so bad that my nicotine receptors are trying to influence my reasoning process'. 'I will not let those fuckers control me'

Good luck mang

Yeah. That's my theory, but I saw something in the news last week that some study showed that weed tokers who are tobacco smokers suffer badly from tobacco use.

As a semi-serious walker, who might walk 5 > 10 miles for a rush, I've found that smoking both has been "OK" for me. I only saw the news report of the study so I don't know if there was a comparison of the level of physical activity of the dual-smokers.

Seriously sucking in the air through physical activity is a necessity for the mammals of any type.

Quit now and your lungs will be able to clear themselves out and recover. Lungs have a built in system for cleaning themselves, a bunch of cilia that move shit out of them. Smoking destroys these, but they can grow back. Leave it too late and there will be scarring and other PERMANENT damage. I don't know of any drug that helps to clear them out but bronchodilators make sense (still need to quit) or you could try breathing warm steam. Exercise will help, man if you think your lungs burn now wait until you come back from a run.

Actually chlorinated water in the public swimming pool helps to clear tars and other particles off your lungs. You just have to get used to inhaling these waters into your lungs as if their air.

Geting a couple of friends to held your head down at the pool might help.

Dude why not buy a flavored electric cig? I mean you can control the amount of nicotine in your body and gradually ween down. And in the process you're not adding any tar or carcinogens to your body! Anyways good luck on quitting man! I remember that I used to smoke a pack a week, I know it's not much for a lot of you, but I quit cold turkey and was off for a year. Anyways today I just bought an electric cig, and it's awesome... just like a hookah man, and I know I could easily put the shit down if I wanted too.

NOPE. Everybody knows chlorine is a good bleaching agent and once chlorinated water filled your lungs they will clean it off all the tars in your lungs, leaving it white .... and as soon as blood returns it's will be nice pink in color.

Worked for me, I did it once and now my lungs are clear of meth residuals and tars.

You're a fucking idiot.

On topic, try reading Allan Carr's book "the Easy Way". Helped me immensely. I went from 1.5 pack per day to -> >2 cigs a day for over 6 months and then 0 for two years since then all cold turkey. I definitely think things like e cig and patches/gum are worse then nothing. IMO that book helps 10x as much.

lol methematician is pretty funny sometimes.

I heard there was some shit you can take that makes you feel like you've just smoked an entire carton of smokes for like 10 days, you just feel sick as fuck and you spit up black shit like crazy, and then after 10 days or so it's all out of your lungs and they're nearly back to normal. does something like this even exist?
