I need some sort of pain medication, because OTC stuff isn't cutting it. However, doctors are reluctant to prescribe even Tramadol
to a young male if there is no clear evidence of injury. I feel I have to try, though, because my back is making me miserable. Tylenol and physical therapy have barely made it even tolerable.
So what's the best way to get a prescription? Telling the truth about my condition ("back hurts, don't know why") doesn't seem to be a good idea. I've been thinking of several possible approaches:
- I was in a car accident a while ago. It has been documented. I could say I hurt my back in the accident.
- I could say I have painful Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which is not far from the truth. I don't know how common it is to get hydrocodone for this, though.
- I had a seizure a while ago, and fell off a stool onto a table edge. This really did hurt the shit out of my back for a while; it might be the real reason. This too was documented, so perhaps I could use this.
- I have moderate kyphosis (hunchback), and this is possibly related to a documented medical condition I have. It's uncommon for it to cause pain, I think, but it can.
Those are my ideas. Does one sound better than another? I'm hoping you medical folks will know. Perhaps I could use all three, because either of the latter two could legitimately be the culprit. If you have any better ideas, though, please
share. (And if your comment leads to a prescription, I'll Paypal you $10.
