Confused broken camera

So the lens on my digital camera won't close and it cannot take pictures. All the other functions work though. What can I do with this? Taser, tape it up in a bathroom to freak people out, put porn on it?

OR you could get it fixed or sell it as broken on ebay.

You could buy a camera of the same model on ebay with a different fault...smashed LCD for example...and then transplant the good bits across to make one working camera.

Shutter is a tough fix. It's probably cheaper to swap out the guts as you stated, but don't think you're going to DIY something like this with no prior experience or training.

Good point there. I've had a few digital camera lenses apart to replace tiny gears and it's no fun.

My best fix was when a single grain of sand jammed the autofocus motor of a Casio Exlim. It really is a painful job, even more so if you're not used to heavy tinkering.
