That story was pumped out to literally thousands of new agencies. It's really incredible how far they went to crucify and pin the tail on this guy. They really, really want to make an example out of him. Most likely the feds are very angry about 4chan and Anon and the credit card fiasco and other successful DDos attacks done by Anon, and they're using this kid as a scapegoat just because they can prove he went to 4chan and here.

As far as I can see, there was no crimes. All he did was post a guide he didn't even create. He never cashed in any coupons, and he never made any. All of this is just one big witch-hunt without any actual base for the accusations.

But as DaGuru pointed out, let's say you buy a tennis racket online and it tells you to go somewhere and print off a free coupon as thanks for your patronage. You go and print it off and try to use it, but you have no idea if it's fake or not. It could easily be fake. What's to prove that you know if it's fake or real, or if you are even able to know if it's fake or real. Every single coupon that can be gotten off the Internet could be fake for all anybody knows.

You're right. I do legit couponing (matching coupons up with sales) & I get some coupons online (off sites like smartsouce.com & coupons.com) & other various sources- newspapers, coupon bookets found in stores, etc. I post on a couponing site called HotCouponWorld. They won't allow any discussion of fraudulent coupons. They keep a list of fraudulent coupons & many people will post they used some of those coupons not knowing they are fraudulent. You can even get overage meaning if your coupon takes off more than the coupon is worth, the store will pay YOU. A friend who is also into couponing & I occasionally get together for lunch to discuss couponing. Regarding printing coupons off sites & how you can't see them till they print out, she told me she has someone who converts the coupons to PDFs (how do you do that?) for her & I don't think she realizes it's fraudulent.

I'm glad this story is getting publicity. It will only add fuel to the fire. You and the media are successfully planting a seed in a new generation of at-home coupon manufacturers. Expect this to get worse. Much worse.

Image manipulation software is getting better and easier to use everyday. Scanners and printers are gaining resolution everyday.

If you attempt to add complex security features to coupons, it will become cost prohibitive for legitimate manufacturers to print and market them. In the end, it wont matter. Your feeble attempts to add security to coupons will be compromised by a few smart people and shared anonymously throughout the internet. In a short amount of time holograms, micro-print, watermarks or anything else you think of will be easily reproduced in college dorm rooms and homes across the country.

Your industry will lose more money fighting fake coupons than they did from the fake coupons themselves. You will bleed money fighting an impossible inevitability.


In short, thank you CIC. You are doing more to promote fake coupons than Zoklet ever could.

I am saddened to see my Zoklet brethren was caught, but he will serve as a martyr and inspiration for generations to come.

The story says Henderson printed coupons himself and distributed them, but that's just a bunch of self-serving lies. All Henderson did was create a guide to fake coupons... that's all he did. They knew they'd have a real problem on their hands due to their unlawful and unconstitutional attack on freedom of information, so they concocted this whole "distribution" thing just to get their case through, told a bunch of lies, and here we are now with that same liar and idiot (CIC) trying to make up even more lies and falsehoods to get Zoklet members arrested.
