I'm going "ghosthunting" tonight
Some friends and I are driving out to an abandoned quarry where 50 people were killed in an accident in the early 1900s. We're not doing EVP sessions or anything like that, we just thought it'd be fun to poke around after dark and see what happens. Apparently cults also use the site for rituals and there is a lot of bad energy, "vortexs" and stuff like that but I don't know if there's any truth to any of it.
Unfortunately I don't even have a camera phone, I'm hoping one of my friends has a camera or something.
Have any of you gone ghost hunting? Any sucesses?

Re: I'm going "ghosthunting" tonight
In my old school there was a picture taken a hundred years ago, and legend has it everyone was accounted for in the picture, but in the window of the headmasters childrens quarters is the face of his dead daughter.
Well, one day we went ghost hunting. We went to that room, and it was pitch black, the window had been boarded up, apart from a blanket which was hanging in the middle of the room.
It was some creepy shit. We got out of there asap, it was a bad atmosphere. Didnt help the entrance was right in the middle of the area we werent allowed in.

Yeah we're waiting for it to get dark than smoking buds and driving out.

Nice, the only other place i've been with any kind of history like that was an abandoned mental hospital where they had abused patients. It was all boarded up and trashed, pretty creepy.

I went ghost hunting a couple times, back in the day. Never found anything, except scary mysterious noises once... that turned out to be mice.

Ive walked past an abandoned mental hospital at night, that shit was scary enough I dont think I'd have the balls to go there unless it was the middle of the day and had some good buddies with me.

It's all about making yourself believe it. Then you can get a cool adventure and a nice adrenaline rush.
Kind of like a rollercoaster. If you just go with the attitude of "meh, I'm a million times more likely to get killed driving my car than in this thing" it's just mundane and boring.

Re: I'm going "ghosthunting" tonight
If you go there thinking there's ghosts, you'll notice 'signs' of them - if you don't, you won't.
I do a bit of urban exploration, got into an old orphanage one day, later on I found out there was a fire there that killed something like 40 orphans and a nun; apparently the place is haunted as fuck. Other people I've talked to who have been with intent of ghost hunting in there have 'felt bad energy' and heard 'noises' - I noticed nothing of the sort.

Oh i am sure suggestion is the root of most of it, but i mean you don't go to abandoned ruins to NOT freak yourself out.

Re: I'm going "ghosthunting" tonight
when you enter and old abandoned building, its more fun to think that people died in there than to just say "oh whatevs its just an old house"
My aunts basement is apparently haunted. Her house was build almost 200 years ago, and someone died in one of the bedrooms. It wasnt anything cool like a murder or whatever, he just died in his sleep. But just the possibility of ghosts being there makes it all the more ominous and creepy
Good luck, let us know how how goes

Re: I'm going "ghosthunting" tonight
Eh so my friend and I were waiting on another friend who had flashlights and ropes and shit, he dicked around at his apartment until 11:30 than said it was too late to go tonight
So my friend and I drove up there any way, turns out the road is cut off and it's a fairly long hike out to the quarry. We only had a mini-maglite and it was like 1:30 by now and he had work at 7 at today, so we just scoped it out a bit and came back.
I'm going to get shit together, look at maps, all that stuff today and we're going to walk out as it's getting dark tonight to make the most of our time.

Re: I'm going "ghosthunting" tonight
Right, sorry I forgot about this thread. Two nights ago, on the Solstice, we went out to the quarry a bit before dark. It got dark quickly as we explored. There were a bunch of dark twisty overgrown trails all around the quarry, going right up to small cliffs and all that. We explored those for a while, a bit creepy but mostly just like any other walk in the woods after dark.
The part that is supposed to be most haunted is the ruins of the old rock crusher, where I think the deadly explosion was. One of the trails led to the top of the cliff the crusher was on. there was a hole in the back wall you could stick your head through, that was eerie. The wall was only about 20' high and made of cobblestone so I scaled up the wall. Once I got to the top, it was about 2 feet wide and a straight 60 drop down the other side. From the top/back of the crusher there wasn't much to see.
We went along on the trails some more on the other side of the crusher. Here is when things maybe get a little weird. All three of us heard what sounded like soft voices at several points. Twice I thought I saw a light shape move by but that could VERY easily have been my eyes playing tricks on me. My friend swears he saw a black shadow standing in a clearing quickly dash off when we came in the clearing. again, this all isn't necessarily ghosts.
So at several points we decided to stand perfectly still and quiet for a few minutes and see what we could see. One of them was when we circled around behind the rock crusher back to the front and were about to go explore inside. We decided to quitely smoke a cigarette while we were watching. About halfway through my cig, I felt the strangest "presence" around me. Not malicious or anything, but I very strongly felt there was someone nearby. Looking back on it, IF it was a ghostly presence I was feeling, it could've seen three guys "on a smoke break" at the rock crushing plant and came over to join in or something.
Now the real fun part, the tunnels. Inside the rock crusher there was a series of maybe 100' total in tunnels. The floor was mounds of dirt, piles of rocks, smashed objects, candles, etc. The ceiling was low and crossed with beams you had to duck under. The tunnels were full of graffiti, and satanist shit mostly. Not even just pentagrams, like legitimate demonic symbols and the names of demons and latin words and shit, above piles of burnt out candles. It was a very very creepy location but while in the tunnels I didn't hear or see anything so even though my friends were freaked as fuck I still made us do silent sessions in the pitch black tunnels.
The last thing that happened, as we were going out the tunnel back outside, we heard voices and realized they were other people outside. I wanted to turn off our light and sneak up on them, we got pretty close still in the pitch black tunnel when I heard a "snap!" and then BANG... BANG... BANG... kind of a low soft thumping noise. It came from directly behind the person farthest back in the tunnel so we got the fuck out of there and talked to the kids outside for a little bit before leaving.
All in all, very creepy and fun even if we probably didn't have any encounters.
One friend had a camera, I'll try to get some pics from him to post. Maybe some weird images will turn up in them or something

Ghosts and cops are quite similar. They only show up when you don't want/need them.

Lmao There is so much truth to that reply!
I have gone 'ghost hunting' a few times, and sometimes I had some success, and sometimes I didn't get anything.
Just because a person died in a particular house or area doesn't make that place haunted. Most peoples souls move on after death, but there are some that refuse to go, whether they are unaware they are dead, died traumatically, have unfinished business here on earth, or afraid to move on. These are the spirits that we are able to become 'aware' of.
The house I lived in growing up was haunted. I used to see a lady standing in the doorway to my room, both day and night, and other people in my family seen her as well. We would hear footsteps at night, the cabinet doors would all be open in the morning, spoons would constantly appear on the fireplace without nobody putting them there (and dishes and silverware in the living room were a big no-no in my house) and sometimes bedroom doors would be open or closed in the morning when we woke up, when nobody touched them. The lady never tried to communicate with us, but she scared the living shit out of me. eventually we moved from that house, but I still drive past that place sometimes and wonder...
I have captured some orbs in photos before, and caught an evp of someone saying "southern" on it, but that is all the 'proof' i have ever captured.
Good luck with your ghost hunt!!

Re: I'm going "ghosthunting" tonight
I used to go to school right up the road from that. Of all the nights I went with different misc people and walks through seasons I've never seen or heard or felt anything which was was expected. It was a WWI munitions factory so people dying for the American cause don't become ghosts.
