Default filming: environment manipulation techniques

I was watching training day today and realised that all the scenes where they are driving in the streets the streets are wet.

they did that for a reason like giving the audience the feel of something like "its very easy to slip and fall"

what other things like this have you realized in movie film techniques.

Default Re: filming: environment manipulation techniques

I have a feeling they wet down the streets in order to give the neighborhoods a dirty or gritty look, given the tone of the film. Wetting a street downs so the audience will subconsciously be afraid of slipping seems like some pretty arbitrary mise-en-scene to me, even by film making standards.

That aside, the "Corner Store Long Takes" from Shaun of the Dead will always been my favorite bit stage setting.
