Default Nutmeg Extraction via Acetone

Would it be possible to extract myristicin and elemicin from nutmeg using acetone? And then filter off the solid trimyristin in the resulting oil? As I recall, all three compounds are soluble in acetone.

Did anyone else see JPs typing style in 'Daniel R Haney''s posts?

I suppose mad scientists often fit into a rough mould...

The nutmeg method is in Kings chemistry guide.

You can also use a coffee expresso machine to steam out the fat/oils.

Thats as far as I got.

Even if you did a good extraction, you wouldn't get an usable product: the most present allylbenzene in nutmeg, myristicin, is less than 0.3% by weight. and if you need myristicin, you should get it from nutmeg oil(about 10%), as it worths it's price, compared to the half-ass extraction you would do. If you need them just for direct use and not synthesis, then acetone extraction might be a good way
