Fragyard Summer Tournament Game Poll

DATE/TIME
The tournament will be held by a vote of all participants on which day everyone would be available, or if not, in stages in which certain participants will be available to then challenge each other at a later date. Like a ladder tournament.

THE PRIZE
The prize will be the winner's choice of the following:

1. $20 USD Playstation Network Card
2. 2000 Nintendo Points Card
3. 1600 Microsoft Points Card
4. Any $20 USD (max) game of your choice from Steam, Greenmangaming, Origin, or other digial medium.

All of the games are free to download and run well on most modern computers.

Me and Bleeding Kansas played Quake Live yesterday, and we both had under 30 ping.

I've played GTA2 online. It works great, hamachi would not be needed. Works over WAN, one user is a listen server. All you need is your IP and (like almost any other game hosting done through a router), needs port forwarding.

GTA2 requires port 47624 TCP/UDP and ports in the range 2300-2400 TCP/UDP to be open.

This being the case, it really wouldnt be hard to host regional ladder matches.

The poll will close on the 31st. Then we'll all talk about a date for 15 days, then more specifics in the last 15 days, then it'll be hosted. You've still got plenty of time if you plan on participating.

Yeah, I'd play pretty much everything else. Even a bottom of the barrel white trash FPS like Combat Arms look more fun than that.

Trackmania would be badass too.

The thing that kind of sucks about this poll is that all of the people voting for FPS (or TPS) are just being split on which FPS they want and then it seems everyone else is voting for GTA 2. So while 11 people want a shooter, because they couldn't all get behind one the 6 people who don't want a shooter are going to have themselves a tournament.

Oh well.

I feel we should pick a game that's easy to pick up. Those who have been playing the other games in the poll kind of have an edge because they know more about strategy, tricks etc.

This. I picked GTA 2 for the hell of it, because knowing GTA it's probably easy as fuck for me. I could just envision my ass getting wrecked in Quake, considering I've never played it and some people here no-life it.

I doubt anyone here plays Quake anymore, but I imagine a large portion of people have at some time. Last time I played it was for one match in the beta of Quake Live over a year ago. Got my ass handed to me and decided I was too rusty to get back into it.

Personally I think any arcade FPS is going to be a lot easier to pick up and play then GTA 2, but if that's what people want that's what they want.

No you're right, it's going to be easy for anybody who plays stuff like that regularly. I don't do mouse and keyboard though, it's just not for me. For somebody who doesn't use it or enjoy it, any FPS is going to be hard as fuck on PC. I don't have a PC controller around anymore, so if it's something I think I'm going to get my ass handed to me at, I'm not even going to bother.

That's just the way I look at it though, for people who play FPS on PC it should be easy as all hell to pick up any of these games.

I wonder why no one suggested Halo CE when we were figuring out games to play. That would have been nice :/

Personally, I'd like to see AVA win. I chose GTA2 though because I want to see something different than an FPS. I think I'd like AVA since it's both free and on Steam. :]
