Coke and Kentucky Fried Chicken come to DPRK
http://news.asiaone.com/News/Latest+...14-289099.html
Quote:
PYONGYANG - Coca-Cola and Kentucky Fried Chicken are to be supplied to Pyongyang by end of this year, according to YTN.
Representatives from the two companies paid a visit to North Korea last week, invited by a domestic government-owned company that specializes in hosting foreign investments.
Although Pyongyang has introduced foreign food like pasta or hamburgers to its citizens, this would be the first international chain to open a branch.
The first chain is to be opened by this autumn, along with official supply of Coke.
North Korea is hastening the relaxing of its relationship with the western countries, allowing foreign news agencies like the Associated Press and Reuters to open branches in the capital.
As Coca-Cola and KFC are often referred to as symbols of global capitalism, not to mention American culture, the North's intention brings about controversies concerning acceptance of the market system.

Re: Coke and Kentucky Fried Chicken come to DPRK
This is the beginning of the end for the North Korea. First they let in the fast food, and slowly from within inside the country will crumble. Once those koreans get a taste of a 2 peice extra crispy with mashed potatoes and a biscuit they are gonna go apeshit. A small taste of freedom will make people hungry for all freedoms. Quote that mothafuckaz.

Re: Coke and Kentucky Fried Chicken come to DPRK
Wow, that does suck.
Apply for a KFC franchise and get mega rich and famous for being the first person to bring KFC to Argentina?
Everyone loves fried chicken.

Re: Coke and Kentucky Fried Chicken come to DPRK
I actually looked this shit up:
Quote:
KFC Franchise Information & Costs
The corporation charges each of its new owners an upfront franchise fee of $25,000. One’s total initial investment will range from $1.1 million to $1.7 million, with much of that variation based upon the difference in real estate values from one part of the country to another. At the low end, the total costs break down something like this – real property ($500,000), construction ($325,000), equipment and signage ($250,000), opening advertising ($5,000), opening inventory ($10,000), utility deposits and business license ($7,000), initial training ($2,300), miscellaneous opening costs ($5,000), and a three month cushion to cover operational expenses ($13,000). There are also ongoing fees assessed to each franchisee, most of which are calculated as a percentage of monthly gross sales revenue. For example, the standard royalty fee is four percent, with an additional three percent for local advertising, plus two percent for national ad campaigns. Each franchise agreement is good for 20 years, after which it can be renewed for a modest four-figure fee. In the event a franchisee elects to sell his or her business, the corporation will charge a $4,850 transfer fee, although that fee is cut in half if the buyer owns one or more KFC franchises.

But!
Quote:
And the number of Argentine franchises seeking to export their concept will continue to grow in 2011 following the lead of clothiers like Cheeky, Mimo, Ricky Sarkany and Caro Cuore. Food franchises are the second-most exported including popular brands like Havanna, Freddo, Cafe Martinéz and Bonafide.
The last major franchising trends involves powerhouse foreign brands and their continued consolidation (Starbucks now has 26 cafĂ©s in less than two years, Subway plans to double its locations in 2011) or long-awaited return: Yum Brands’ KFC and Pizza Hut are coming back and Atlanta-based Wendy’s will apparently do the same.
