I am new to making polls and screwed up today.
Let's see if this one works.

You can choose as many names as you like.

So
I'm gonna unstick this post, as it seems no one pays attention to the stickies anymore.
Can't argue that half of them are irrelevant.
But be that what it be....

As mentioned above, in this poll, you get to choose as many names as you wish.

Previous Polls created this week have been cancelled.
So most of you who voted earlier get another shot.
Except CG420, who didn't even learn from his first mis-effort.

There's too many options on here, you should pick the ones that were original only, otherwise similar titles are going to detract from each other. For example "fit n shit" and "fit as shit" are pretty much the same idea, but will probably take away each others' votes.

Maybe you didn't notice that you can choose several choices.
So if you liked "fit n shit" but not "fit as shit" , you'd only choose the one you like.
If you liked either one just as well, then choose both.
Your vote should be one of many and will get diluted in the end.

I mentioned that there probably will be a run off of maybe the top 5, in the future.

So "too many options" in this poll will get culled down.

Yeah, in the original thread about choosing a new name (Before a poll was created) , "Health, Strength, and Beauty" got a lot of support.
It isn't doing so well, presently.

since the drug forum went back to its totse roots, i think there should be an option for this forum to go back to its as well. Reinvent Yourself. that forum helped change me completely! but since that isnt an option, i voted to stay Carved Outta Wood. its my favorite forum name that isnt taken straight from totse. its a reference, it sounds good, its short and sweet, and it doesnt try to be so clever that its just lame.

As I mentioned, there will be a run-off poll.
Not sure if Zok wants Totse references or not.

but if you look at the votes 209.27% of the people want a name change while only 35.19% want it to stay the same so i think that Carved Out of Wood shouldnt be an option in the next poll like that gets eliminated because so few people want it to stay the same

Nice perspective.
You may need to remove the input from yourself and Minority Deport who voted for every choice.
After all, there's Lies, damned lies, and statistics.
But since Carved Outta Wood is leading the poll, it obviously has to remain as a choice, IMO

removing 2 votes from all of them would leave the proportion the same

but i think your looking at this wrong. this poll is about wether people want a change or not & the huge huge majority want a change

Yeah, maybe the proportion is the same, but I'd guess the numbers could differ.
I dunno, do the math.
I initially felt choosing every choice was simply a bump that didn't change the stats, but in the end, I'm not sure if it doesn't somehow skew the numbers when you talk of the final analysis.
Thus, regarding statistical analysis, it would seem you may need to remove any multiple votes from someone who chose Carved Outta Wood, plus another (or others).
The results could be the same after that effort, but I'm not a stats wizard and am not 100% sure.

i dont understand what you mean. if there were 2 people who voted for everything then wouldnt you subtract 2 from each item? well thats what i did and then i recalculated the % so im not sure what your trying to say here

I told Mutant Funk Drink I'd add "Head to Toe" , as it seems decent.
However, I can't modify the running poll due to software limitations, so that is for the next one.

That's a moot point because you have to change it to something. The majority wanting a new name is irrelevant if they can't agree on what that name should be.

the math is -2 from everything and -2 * the number options subtracted from the total votes. then just do each item divided by total votes to calc the percentage. i did it in a spreadsheet. so there you go

sounds impressive, though quite fuzzy

I still can't get my head around your earlier mentioned 209.27% of a group.
It seems like once you reach 100% of a group, it's hard to get beyond that.
Though it seems some athletes can give 110% during a sporting event , so maybe it's possible.

yeah well thats just how this forum calculates the % based on the number of voters, not votes. so since some people evidently voted for more than one, that made that number turn out like that. when i did it removing the multiple votes you said, i handled it correctly. point remains that the majority wants change.

no a plurality favors CoW whereas the majority wants change. a plurality is when no single choice has over 50% and its just the highest one. its what countries that have a bunch of political parties have and it means that the majority can end up not happy with decisions so be careful if your going to go with something thats a plurality because you can end up making the majority unhappy.
