But if some little kid just made a blue square with a few stars in it, and added some red and white stripes, you'd know instantly what country the kid is talking about. That's what you want ideally in a flag.

By contrast, if that flag there was displayed any smaller, you wouldn't even be able to read the writing. Flags shouldn't have any writing on them, or any complex symbols. Some of these countries need to consult someone who spent even just five minutes considering graphic design, some of the flags these countries have (or had) are absolute disasters.
