Yeah, sounds like the extent of the exchange was "¿Qué pasa?" from the girl then *whack* and "¡Vete! ¡Coño! ¡Joder!" "Go away! Shit! Fuck!" from the police (keeping in mind that swearing in Spain is common and not considered offensive).

The fact that the police are pissed off enough to hit people over nothing is the fault of the Catholic Youths that have invaded Madrid and taken over the city for the World Youth Day. Some people here tried to organise a peaceful protest over the fact that the Pope's visit to Spain is being paid for with public funds (taxes) and the fucking peace-loving Catholics just had to go there and turn it into a confrontation even though the protest had nothing to do with them, which pissed the police off because normally in August they'd be on light duties. Anyway, the cops recorded doing that are going to be investigated, so yeah. But I don't particularly blame them for being reactionary.

Yeah, I face-palmed a little too when she thought that kicking and punching a mob of armed cops would resolve the situation. She's lucky her boyfriend was with her, although I'm not sure what even provoked the cops to hit her so maybe she would have taken an entirely different route if he wasn't there
