All these recent threads about tanning have made me confused as hell, why do you people trade off skin cancer just to look a bit darker or more pink?

Natural skin colours are the hottest though.

I never use tanning booths or anything but I like to lay out and get a real tan in the summer, because I'm so pale that if you look closely my skin is literally like...translucent and you can see veins. So really I just become a darker shade of pale.

Being tan (within reason) also tends to make you look healthier and more toned for some reason, but I always have and always will find it disgusting when people over-tan. I can understand wanting a bit of colour, but when you are in denial about what race you are and you end up looking like a leather couch or a cheese puff...nothing attractive about that.

I spend a lot of time In the sun ie riding ,nail gun fights , building trails and just spending time outside. I also bodyboard and rashshirts/wetsuits annoy me so my arms an shit are tan and my arse is way beyond white. Natural tanned skin ftw

I dont 'tan' on purpose but in the summer, i spent alot of time outdoors and it just happens.

its not because of your skin tone you can see veins, im much darker than you, and you can see veins in my hands and wrists.

being of brown skin, i always prefer women in their natural skin tones as opposed to the oompa loompa's you find at clubs, I guess I like my women to look "real".

I have naturally 'tan' skin, being a large percentage Native American. But I spend a lot of time outside (I work outdoors, and I love nature in general) so I do get a bit of a suntan as well. I don't look like a wetback or anything, but I've got a healthy glow.

I am a 6'3, man with long blonde hair, and very pale skin, I fit the description of the ancient Celts.
I enjoy it, I see it as part of my heritage, like aboriginals and their brown skin.

People tan to have better looking skin, but concetrated UV rays can make your skin age faster than it does naturally, making you look like an elderly folk, and concentrated UV rays also decreses your bodies speed at healing itself.

Tanning beds are for idiots.

English Roses win over anyday. One thing which makes me furious about Suffolk is it's closeness to Essex, whose main export are moronic orange women. At school the cutest girls I knew were all very pale and white... fact slap.

Last time I checked, glowing wasn't healthy. I hear it's a sign of radiation poisoning.

Tanning is kinda of a trend.

I really don't see any beauty in it, it's actually a turn off. Natural skin color is the best.

I avoid the sun, when I do go out in it I am wearing factor 10000000000 sunscreen and I avoid the middle of the day. I've got this basically translucent Danish skin

(I also don't want to look old when I'm older)

Doesn't most moisturiser contain a sun block around UV 15 anyway? So almost all women walk around wearing protection every day.

spf15 wouldnt protect you from a three-metre-skip outside in sunny weather.

Just take care, avoid the sun from 11-2pm...if you're pale it's worth wearing at least factor 30 in sunny weather. My family have all done the same and my mother looks about 20 years younger than she actually is. Us pale types must take extra care.

10-3pm is usually the worst time according to the medical community- and it extends as daylight hours do. Just wear SPF at least 30, and check-up if you get a mole.

It's also a genetic thing- I'm english/spanish and got it at age 11, and my mom was one of those careful moms that slathers her kids before they're allowed to go swimming. Either way, sun avoidance does keep you much younger so that's always a plus.

I tan in a tanning bed in the winter.I dont overdo,or look like I just got here from florida or something.I do it to keep an average color...I tan so well in the summer but during the winter I get so pale so fast.Im italian and just think that I look better with a little color then being pale as fuck.black hair,eyebrows and brown/green eyes dont look good with a sheet white fucking complexion.

Call it vain,call it whatever you want...I look good.

I only tan in the summer or if I go on vacation. It's called having an active, healthy lifestyle that keeps you outside in the sun.

Of course, last time I went to Costa Rica I promised my mom I'd use SPF 70, so I hardly got a tan.

EDIT: But I'm not white, so moot point.
