Cleaning Murder Weapon

My friend and I were arguing about this today.

Suppose you shot someone/killed some one (and ditching the piece was not an option) or were selling an illegal gun to someone else who may use it to kill someone, how would you go about cleaning it to remove and evidence (DNA, finger prints, dead skin flakes left begin in/on the gun) that would prove that at one time it was in your possession?

My best guess is bleach and a thorough wipe down and probably microwave it for ~45 seconds so all water would evaporate and dry and also probably destroy and DNA/skin flakes. My friend insists that this won't work, as if he has any fucking experience... Not that I do either, but still I don't see why this wouldn't work and I can't think of any better way to do it other than dissmantling it and chucking it in a deep as lake.

Any (bad) ideas?

biological washing liquid that you use in the laundry breaks down all types of human fat, tissue and even bone. is the best way to dispose of a body and soaking the gun in it for at least 24 hours, or as long as possible would do the job. unfortunately the grease in your fingers that leaves a fingerprint is slightly acidic. this burns a permanent print into metal that can now be recovered. im not sure what to recommend for that, sanding possibly but i dont think it would be feasible to sand every part of the gun that you have touched or handled. you would have to do all the working parts from when you have stripped it and the magazine too.

- just use bleach. it will work fine to get rid of all DNA. wear gloves and scrub every inch of it 3 or 4 times at least to be sure.

- take gun apart and clean it that way too... lots of instructional vids on the net to walk you through disassembly, and re-assembly.

- make sure whoever you're selling it to is someone you know, or someone who's been vouched for by at least a couple of people.

- don't do the exchange at your house, whatever you do.

Illegally selling a gun to someone...just report the gun stolen.

i suppose dipping it in a strong acid or base would do the trick, i doubt the gun would be in working condition after that, but only a real moron would sell or continue to use a "dirty" gun instead of disposing it

Assuming one might leave the scene of the crime, why wouldn't the individual place the gun/knife into a bag and toss it into a lake or dig a hole and place it inside? --NVM

Ditching is not an option you said. One should use gloves. Furthermore, one shouldn't use a gun, too loud. Use a knife, one would do all of the above, and depending entirely on who the individual is, one should consider burning the place down and adding multiple eccentricities to complicate the scenario.

you might just end up acid etching your fingerprints into the steel doing that

Iron chloride solution doesn't have fingerprints.

It also doesn't have enough DNA to measure when introduced into the soils of bumfuck one drop at a time, in completely different places, after a few rainstorms.

just use a bench grinder and grind it into dust. keeping it is what isn't an option, nor selling it onto someone else who could do any stupid thing with it and then g you straight up when he gets caught.

and as for throwing it into the river. how many moviseen where the police divers recover the gun and then they go and pick the guy up. i dont know, you see that shit on tv all the time and yet people still think throwing it in the river is a good idea, lol.
