I like this idea. It would serve as a shrine to our men and women in blue.

We could expand the idea to include all sorts of things police-related. Like those oft ignored stories of them doing what is good and just.

Hmmm, yes...maybe just change the sub-section idea to "cops in general" or whatever. maybe call it "blue suits"

But... misconduct goes so far beyond mere brutality. In addition to beatings, it also encompasses menacing, theft, harassment, and so much else.

I'd like a dedicated police-misconduct news station. It's... so often underreported in media dependent on the government for liscencing and access, for some reason.

...but we'd have to figure out what the paramaters are, pretty darned well.

Make a thread and keep it updated (or talk to a mod about getting it stickied), but I don't think a subforum for this is necessary.

you know... a "how new forums are born" guide might be useful.

There are a number of things a user can do if they're serious about an idea like this (posting about it in here isn't one of them, that's more an endgame move once you've got your shit together)

Like atrain said, make a thread, keep it updated, or work with a mod to get it stickied.
Start keeping track of the threads that meet your criteria, so you can show it's a subject being discussed around the board and actually getting activity is another good one.
(though not foolproof, or else we'd have put in an RC subsection to bltc and moved all those elsewhere a long time ago)

on a personal level taking the time to make and cultivate threads on the subject matter is something you'd think you would be doing anyway, if it's interesting enough that it needs a new forum.


basically, if you do the legwork, and can present a "why this would be useful" it's a lot easier to get people on board, rather than just spitballing in the dark like this.


(all personal opinions, since i don't mod here anymore, but it's just common sense)
