Gemini App Manager - a must have to save battery power on my Thunderbolt.

Opera Moblie - Needs no explanation.

Craigslist Notifier - Good if you're trying to keep an eye out for something on Craigslist, keep track of a keyword or whole section in multiple regions.

Juice Defender - Free version will turn off data connection when screen is off, or let you toggle it manually.

Apart from being rooted with a custom rom, my personal favorite apps are:

-Awesome Drop. Transfer files to your phone from any PC with a web browser.

-SNESnoid. Play SNES on your phone.

-Pulse. Nice app for putting all your news from various sources into one place.

-Droid X Bootstrapper and Titanium Recovery. Must have if you want to play with roms.

-Rooted wireless tether. I wish I had a tablet or something so I could get more use out of that feature.

-DoubleTwist. Free iTunes replacement.

Acer Iconia. Better specs than the iPad2, and I got it for $200 (a friend found it and sold it to me.)

Ah, I have an Asus Transformer.

I think the most useful apps are Polaris Office, Moboplayer (Can play .avi), Photoshop Express, and Pulse (News Reader/RSS). That, plus the emulators. (N64oid, GameBoid, Nesoid, and SNEsoid.)

Although, your needs might be different, as the Transformer has a full keyboard dock.
