Re: Wow...What does it feel like to fly over planet Earth?
That was gay. It wasn't even a good view of Earth, it looked like shit. Dare I say that looked fake? It reminded me of the flying program in Google Earth. They had better views of Earth back in the 1960s; I saw it on a German music show called Space Nights back in the 1990s. You can get a better view of Earth just by buying a weather balloon and strapping an HD camera to it.

You can see the Ionosphere as the light yellow line on the horizon. Kind of like a giant bubble which lays close to the surface of the planet.

Damn, looks like someone read the quote in the OP.
Otherwise, this video is fucking awesome. I can't die without being in space once.

Are those lights on the surface the lights of cities? If so that's fucking cool. The lightning was pretty badass as well.

Re: Wow...What does it feel like to fly over planet Earth?
Here's a guy that jumped from a height of over 102,000ft (31km above the Earth). In the first seconds after stepping off the platform, he reached a speed of over 1,017 km/h. With no wind resistance at all, it was if he was just floating in place for several kilometers. Temperate was below -90F for part of the trip.

Earth is nothing but a little wet rock in the middle of a very, very, very, very, very, large ocean.

Re: Wow...What does it feel like to fly over planet Earth?
it's amazing that all the matter we see is less than 1% of what was actually produced in the big bang
if only matter was created, then there would be so many stars in the night sky that it would look as bright as day

Re: Wow...What does it feel like to fly over planet Earth?
With the sheer size of the Universe, it's foolhardy to think that we're the only sentient lifeforms out there. They're probably watching us right now, laughing their gray asses off.

Re: Wow...What does it feel like to fly over planet Earth?
What's really amazing is to compare the size of the cosmic to the size of the microcosmic. Space and stellar bodies out there in the cosmos are remarkably similar to the bodies we find at the sub-atomic level... electrons, protons, quarks and neutrons... all set in their orbits just as the planetary system we see out there is. In fact, all matter is made up of atomic and sub-atomic particles, and if you could get small enough, in a small enough ship, you could explore the vast nebulae and orbits of the other side of infinity.

Man... that craft must be traveling somewhere in the range of 10,000+ km/hr to cover that much ground in such a short time span.
