Default Toshiba Satellite L355-S7915 Remove Password

I have a Toshiba Satellite L355-S7915 as soon as I boot it has a blue screen that says "Enter Current Password:".

I have already tried removing the battery for a good while and I tried burning bios onto a cd but I cannot boot from the cd because it asks for the password.

after some more google fu, it appears toshiba lap tops are an even bigger bitch, thanks to some sort of read only security chip that requires no power and won't allow you to flash the bios.

i suggest shooting it. repeatedly.

Yeah... you'll need to reset the BIOS which usually involves pulling out the CMOS battery. You'll need to take the laptop apart and take the little watch battery out which will reset the CMOS thereby clearing the password.

I can confirm this. In some toshiba's, the password is written to an EPROM chip if my memory serves me correctly. You can get toshiba to remove it for you for a fee.

You could always try locating the chip on the mobo and desoldering it, crazy as it sounds, maybe it could work.
If you wanna get the data off the laptop, just pop out the hard drive.

I've found they're generally not left in more recent units though.

As for LiquidIce's suggestion, I advise you do not desolder ANYthing in there unless you A) have a good quality variable-temp soldering iron and B) A lot of experience

^ I only suggested that because it's one of the two viables ways I've come up with taking care of this issue. Let's just say I set up a password on my Toshiba laptop and since it's been two years - completely forgot it. Tried master passwords etc. but the shit's ingrained into the EPROM. If I ever get another laptop, I'll try the desoldering thing.

The only other thing that I think may work is to somehow bruteforce it, unless the BIOS has password retry limit.

How to Bypass or Remove a BIOS Password using the manufacturer backdoor password:
On many computers (especially old ones), computer manufacturers build in backdoor passwords for their own technicians to use so they can access the BIOS when the hardware is being serviced. I just posted this in another thread
Quote:
Removing the CMOS battery wont help on a lot of these newer laptops like 2006+, the password is acutally before BIOS even will start and is running from an EEPROM chip. Depending on the laptop I think you can jump these with a piece of conductive metal to reset it but most likely you will just have to use a master password to get in. Unfortunately the master password is specific to your laptop's serial number and you will need to find someone with a generator which you can find on ebay if you are willing to pay 10 bucks or so.

Fuck I didn't realize newer laptops actually saved the set password to an EEPROM chip. That would make it quite a bit harder to get into the machine...
