Default iPhone 4S security hole uncovered

Apple's new hit feature, the Siri personal assistant on the iPhone 4S is designed to be helpful and respond to users' voice commands; this even includes unauthorised users who may get hold of your iPhone while you are not looking, a leading security firm has warned.
Graham Cluley, a senior technology consultant at Sophos, wrote yesterday on his technology blog , "I borrowed a passcode-locked iPhone 4S from a colleague here at Sophos and, with his permission, was able to write an email, and sent a text message. If I had wanted to I could have meddled with his calendar appointments too."
Apparently locking down the iPhone doesn't help fixing this security loophole. Siri can still be activated with one tap. In order to be sure that Siri only listens to you, Cluley suggests a few steps: access your iPhone 4S settings, head to "Passcode Lock," and make sure Siri is set to "Off", that way "Siri cannot be used when the smartphone is locked with a passcode".

I'm not a big fan of the iPhone, but this is retarded.

It's a security hole that you can use the voice controller when the phone is locked, if you specifically set the voice controller to be active while the phone is locked? Fuck off Sophos.

Also fuck off spambot.

Idiocy, of course if you let someone borrow your phone, or they get their hands on it while you aren't looking, they can meddle around with it.
