On Friday, the law firm of Steven J. Baum threw a Halloween party. The firm, which is located near Buffalo, is what is commonly referred to as a “foreclosure mill” firm, meaning it represents banks and mortgage servicers as they attempt to foreclose on homeowners and evict them from their homes. Steven J. Baum is, in fact, the largest such firm in New York; it represents virtually all the giant mortgage lenders, including Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo.

The party is the firm’s big annual bash. Employees wear Halloween costumes to the office, where they party until around noon, and then return to work, still in costume. I can’t tell you how people dressed for this year’s party, but I can tell you about last year’s.

That’s because a former employee of Steven J. Baum recently sent me snapshots of last year’s party. In an e-mail, she said that she wanted me to see them because they showed an appalling lack of compassion toward the homeowners — invariably poor and down on their luck — that the Baum firm had brought foreclosure proceedings against.

If there is a hell, these people have a special place reserved for them there.

they're not superior, they just happened to get their jobs becauyse they applied for those jobs from an ad and got the fucking jobs. In a loaded system which denies people's natural rights.

If these people could find some empty land, build a house on it, farm some land near it, then none of this would happen. But they can't, if they try it's trespassing, vandalism, even lack of planning permission.

In the loaded game, some people 'win' and 'lose'. Nobody has the right to force people to play, play against the odds, and that's why they shouldn't be flaunting. In this system of resource allocation, these people won. What if the dispossessed tenants decide they don't want to play this system, what if they want to just turn up at the firm and beat everybody to death and take all 'their' resources? That system is equally just.

Of course, better ways exist, and no good man or woman should stand by and try to justify the reprehensible behaviour of these colossal cunts.

Just to give you all a second look at this.

This is completely ...well..evil. There are people cold in the streets right now, because of firms like this, and probably some of those very (nice, right?) people.

It was fun trolling the milquetoast populists. OWS was ridiculous, they wait until shit gets nasty for them and then they go to the streets. Where were they in 1998 when the same 1% owned the wealth? Day trading, that's where. Hypocrites, they didn't hate the fundamentals, and they made themselves look stupid by not having a clear outline or set of demands. I liked them, still. I just wanted to point out the fundamental idiocy of the whole game. They wanted to change the system but still work within it, not switch the game.

What people should have done is reoccupied their homes and stormed that office in the middle of the party. That's my type of action. That's another thing that made me sick, they were too afraid of dirtying their hands.
