Doctor tomorrow, want benzos (success!)

HI BLTC. <3

So, I'm visiting the doc tomorrow, on recommendation from my psychologist. I have a good relationship with this doctor. Long story short, I want benzos. I've never been on any type of psych medication before, and don't know what to expect.

My issues: crushing depression, paranoia, long term social anxiety, incredible mood swings, and OCD, the latter three of which have suddenly worsened significantly over the past few months. I also hear benzos are the closest thing to alcohol in a pill, and I *love* alcohol.

So anyway, I wanted to see if anybody had any advice, especially anybody who's been given a script for benzos before. I could probably benefit from them because of my, but I want to try some either way.

Benzos aren't really difficult to get

Just claim symptoms like:

Panic Attacks (Pounding heart, shortness of breath, dizziness, feelings of despair) over minor things or often nothing at all.

Say they will hit you out of nowhere even when you aren't doing anything stressful and they are much more common in stressful situations.

Lack of sleep due to racing thoughts or worries when you lay down

Stress induced physical symptoms like sensitive teeth because you've been grinding them.

Don't just jump out and say "Can I have something for it?!" but just act as if you're just checking your options. Say something like "I've been trying to drink less caffeine and deep breathing and I got some stress relieving tea I'm trying too. Are there any other options to help with this because so far I'm not seeing many improvements"

Just be smart and act like the lack of sleep and stress on your heart is really getting old and you just want relief. Unless the doc is a douche you should at least be able to get him to bring up Medication. When that happens ask questions about the side effects and how the meds work. Don't act clueless but don't act like you're on BLTC all the time either .

You don't necessarily need all of this to get the meds though. Just play off what the doctor says and wing it, ask questions and punctuate the exhaustion. Doctors generally get more concerned when a person is sleep deprived due to medical problems.

Yeah that's what I figured, I'll stick to the anxiety, worries, and poor sleep.

Panic/anxiety attacks. Have you ever had them before? That would make things easier (to explain) for sure. I've been given ativan and valium for complaining about bad anxiety attacks causing symptoms like severe chest pain and palpitations "When it happens it feels like I'm about to have a heart attack" and also a very "uncomfortable pressure in the head". Describe debilitating anxiety. If you tell them that you have depression and social anxiety issues they might just try to shove SSRIs down your throat (as has been mentioned.) With that said, I honestly don't get the recreational appeal of benzos by themselves. I think that they can be a good tool to manage real anxiety problems and a good supplement to other recreational drugs but not much more than that.

thats the point. Benzos suck when you aren't anxious or depressed. When you're like me (constantly anxious about everything and depressed for no reason everyday), they're a fucking godsend. Cures anxiety and numbs depression.

Do you want to get high or get better? SSRIs do actually help a lot of people with the constellation of symptoms you described.

But yeah, the key is to describe symptoms that are negatively affecting several areas of your life. Work, school, relationships, etc.

And be forewarned, benzos can worsen depression, and may not be the best idea for someone who is already suffering from it.

Have you been on an SSRI? and if so did it really make a huge difference? I have been in a similar situation to the OP for a while now and have resisted SSRIs under the reasoning that I want to get better on my own. Plus the idea of getting brain zaps and being suicidal scares the shit outta me.

Oh and OP if you so much as mention benzos they'll be onto you

Benzo's are for severe anxiety disorders with panic attacks, epilepsy, or insomnia.

SSRIs didn't do anything much for me, but my primary complaints are anxiety and insomnia, not OCD or depression or anything else.

Plus I couldn't orgasm on them, so definitely gotta pass, personally. But if OP is trying to get better, it probably wouldn't him to try. Same goes for you.

Got a box of 0.5mg of alprazolam.

Weak dosage and fast acting is all I really know about it.

I took a questionnaire with the doctor that showed my stress and anxiety levels to be very high, and depression levels to be above normal, but far lower than the other two. It's was a simple questionnaire and it was pretty easy to see which questions were stress/anxiety related, and which were indicators of depression. Fortunately I did not have to lie or be deceptive because my mind truly is quite anxious and fucked over.

Doctor wants to know how this goes.

0.5mg is poor, even if it works great for me I'd rather something higher because I can always break the pills in half and get more bang for my buck.

Any advice on getting a higher dosage? So far I intend to give these benzos a real go and see what happens, but I guess if they appear to work, especially at higher dosages, that's the way to go.

it sounds like a bad idea to tell your doctor/psychiatrist you take 3-5 of your prescribed pills to feel anything. i'd think it'd be better to just tell them the prescribed dose isn't working, i wouldn't mention taking more pills than prescribed. might be wrong though

He's suggested a range of dosages to try, I'd expect that saying that it's only the higher ranged doses that are noticeable (and even then, no quite enough) would be the way to go. At the moment that's the plan of action. I'd even do that if the 0.5mg was enough for me, in that case it'd be more cost effective to take the 1mg pills and just split then in two. That's the case with viagra at least, as Pfizer do it at the same price for 4x pills at either 25, 50, or 100mg.

Tell her that you've noticed that under normal social circumstances things seemed to have evened out, but you still get edgy if you have to wait in line at the supermarket too long. Or you feel smothered when too many people crowd in around you, especially on days when you are experiencing increased stress from life related issues.

yeh this if you tell her your taking more than she told you too she'll get scared and run off to live with her aunt and uncle in belair
