Motherfuck. All I wanted to do was roll a cigarette and smoke it, but you had to impose upon me this tax, the size of which points to nothing more than an outright condemnation of my choice by big government.

I've bought my tins, lets see how long I will last. Hopefully longer than the government. Smokers, UNITE!

I thought it was a joke. I'm in NC, and the price of a tin of American Spirit shot up by $10.00 just a week ago. Granted, it was Spirit (now owned by one of the giants...Phillip Morris perhaps...but this tax is just killing the roll your own crowd). I believe later today you will notice that your pouch of tobacco costs significantly more than it did yesterday (if in the US).

Guess that means you'll stop eating to save money, and put some much-needed strain on the health care system, huh? I don't understand the rationale behind a 2,159% tax increase. Maybe they're just trying to milk money from wherever they can. Let me imagine the discussion that took place between the legislators:

"We need money."

"Yeah, true. Let's raise taxes."

"Who's taxes?"

"Uhm... Ahh... Smoker's. Why not."

"Hey, but doesn't Obama smoke?"

"Yeah. Malboros. Pre-made. We can still up the tax on roll-your-owns."

"Well okay then. Sounds good to me. Smoking is bad for health, and tobacco companies are evil. There's no downside to this."
