Okay, it's not really a contest; I just wanted to let the forum know that if y'all are willing to write something about this (or even if you'd like to write a counter-point), and it's good, then it will be stickied (and archived) along with contributions from other users on the topic.
I envision the final result as a thread which acts as both a reference (with exhaustive and well-thought-out explorations of the idea), and as a place for users to post their new thoughts on the issue (thus keeping it all in one place). This way we won't have to rehash the whole debate every time someone new comes along and thinks they'll be deep by bringing the issue up.
