Good new scam idea. Good money easy.
I have a scam idea, they did it a while back on the Real Hustle.
Basically you pretend to be a postman/mailman/courier for a bogus company which you invent. You get the clothes/outfit and make up some fake ID and paperwork with the companies name on it.
Then you get a list of names and addresses in your area and you get a mail/jiffy bag and put some random stuff in like a cheap book then stick an address onto it.
Then you go to the houses and 'deliver' the parcels. You knock on the door and say, "Hello I've got a package for *name*" then the person comes to the door and you say "There is a *$10* charge on that".
They give you the cash and you get them to sign your clipboard. They might be wary but you just flash your ID say your from wherever and that your just delivering.
Any thoughts on this scam?
Reckon' it'd be pretty profitable.
It would be hard to get caught because the victim will think you are just delivering so he won't beat you up etc

Re: Good new scam idea. Good money easy.
Idk may work on some well off elderly people. But most average people aren't going to want to take $10 out of their pockets for a suprize delivery of something they didn't want. That's kinda like walking up to someone and smoking some bud and saying " Oh that'll be $10" lol

Hmm, well on the Real Hustle, where this was shown, they did it in an office block, and the others were all young men. So I reckon its worth a try.

Re: Good new scam idea. Good money easy.
The Real Hustle is AMAZING. It's from the UK but the US have their own version (not as good).
They basically do all the scams possible and film it. Then tell the people they've been scammed and they are going to be on the TV.
You can learn a lot from watching it as they give tips etc.

So they basically tell the world how you're going to try and scam them?

Yeah!
They apparently make the show so that they can show people how not to fall for the same scams.
However they do a better job showing people how to scam people and make money.

You could probably just ask the elderly for $10 and receive it.

Re: Good new scam idea. Good money easy.
There is no way in hell I would pay $10 to someone trying to deliver a package I'm not aware is coming. As someone else said, maybe some elderly people would fall for it... easier to dress up pretending to collect for a charity to be honest. The only convincing you would actually have to do is getting people to donate (which is what legitimate door knockers have to do anyway).

Most of the 'scams' you see on tv aren't applicable in the real world.

I saw a version of this scam where you look in the local paper at obituaries, then you deliver the package to the widow/er, addressed to the recently deceased. They want to know what it is because they are old and mourning and they get a brick.

My point exactly who wants to hand over that money for something out of nowhere I mean if i was gonna try this i'd do it on like gated community or people who seem like they wouldn't mind throwin a $10 away. You'd have about the same odds in getting the money if you just stood outside somewhere and panhandled (begged) people and asked for change. Just sayin.

OP never actually mentioned that this was his/her own idea. If you read the beginning he/she clearly stated that it was an idea from the tv show The Real Hustle and it's clearly mentioned in a couple of quotes there after. So there ya go.

Re: Good new scam idea. Good money easy.
Okay so some of you are saying "nobody is going to give $10 away".
Well maybe if you added some logos/stickers tot he package, making it look like it came from somewhere expensive then they will fall for it?
For example, if you put Amazon logo on the jiffy bag.
Or perhaps if you made a fake customs form saying the contents is worth over $500+ and requires a $10 charge.
There is many things to play around with here, the customs form would be great though. People will fall for authority. And a lot of times you do get charged when buying packages from china, like import duty/tax.
Don't be so quick to cancel this scam out.

So many of these scams and ideas skip over the important detail.
E.G. How do you plan to get the names and addresses of an entire block or street, specific to your area?

I'm in the United Kingdom, we have the Census, like most countries.
You go onto a people lookup search, and everyone on the census is listed. You pay a small membership fee, and you have details of everyone at thats address.
Obtaining them is easy man.

Sounds like a whole lot of work just for $10.00 I'm sure there are easier ways to make just $10.00

Try obtaining addresses for every house/every other house on a street/block and then thats $10 per house in a short amount of time.
Where I live this translates to about $100+ in 15mins.
Easy work, especially if you have a van.
Once you've done it, never go back to that street. Little chance of risk.
Just do 5 streets a day in a different town.
Very profitable if executed correctly.

You just hit the nail on the head! "If executed correctly!" In which most people are to retarded to figure out their left from their right let alone trying to pull a scam like this.

Which is why in my post I put about adjusting this scam to make it work, like using false customs forms etc, no scam is good until adjusted.
Many people are quick to dismiss an idea without thinking into it further.
This scam has potential.

I'm from Australia, and we also conduct a Census every five years. I can also tell you that obtaining personally identifiable information from the Bureau of Statistics would be a breach of the Privacy Act. I'm sure this would be the same case in every other country where a Census is performed.
The information the Bureau releases is for statistical purposes only and, for obvious reaons, would not be personally identifiable otherwise marketing companies would be raping every person in the country.
So, you're full of shit, dude.

i've saw this scam on TRH a few years ago. seeing that most postage is not COD, i think it'd only work on a few people...not enough to make it worthwhile. your time is better spent on other schemes that bring in more money in less time.
