Making Android/Iphone Apps

There is a particular program thats on the net all over the place as a widget and I want to copy it and make in into an app I can play with on my android. From what I've been told these apps/widgets are made using Java so my question is, should I learn java or use a program like eclipse? If I understand correctly these programs (eclipse) are just like Dreamweaver so you don't actually need to learn to code.

So what would you recommend? Learn Java or use Eclipse?

Eclipse is just an IDE. You still need to learn to code. It just makes things easier for experienced devs by putting the text editor, compiler, debugger and build tools in one place.

There is no visual element to eclipse.

EDIT: you don't necessarily have to learn a compiled program for what you want to do, you could do it all in javascript and then create a icon that opens up safari/Android Browser.

Learn Java. You can program for Android right in Eclipse and it's very easy compared to programming other things. You will still need to learn Java though and understand how it works. Programming itself isn't so hard but you need to learn and fully understand HOW to program something first.
