Basic training/boot camp
Hi.
Can anybody (Canadian preferably, but anyone is welcome) tell me what exactly basic training is like? And please explain in great details, terms like "out in the field", "marching", "drill"..etc mean very little to me (I have no idea what these things entail).
Is it possible for someone to skip the basic training? Maybe fake an illness or something? Basic training sounds grueling to me.

Re: Basic training/boot camp
I'm American, but I can tell you some. While you do actually receive training in basic training (imagine that) it is in large part meant to break you down, then build you back up into the model order-following machine -- or so I saw it. Opinions may differ. Here I've written some about U.S. Navy RTC which may help you in general, but the Canadian military probably know more than I do.
You aren't going to skip basic training. Getting sick will get you held back, and pretending will get you held back and in trouble.

MEDSEP, 2311; i.e., Fat Fuck Doctor decided I'm passive-aggressive and avoidant and shouldn't be in the Navy.
I'd go behind his back and get him for that shit but I'm not good enough.

This tells me you'd fuck over your people once you got out of basic. Like the type of person to get pregnant so they can't go on deployment.
Maybe I'm wrong. Who knows?

I see. Well, I understand their need to make sure the new recruits are obedient and pliable, however I just really believe that there are better, smarter, and kinder ways out there to achieve the same aim. Seriously if you think about it. How does making someone sleepy during the day through semi-sleep deprivation make him more obedient? It doesn't. His personality will never change, the only thing the army people are doing is making him physically too weak to fight back, which is stupid if you ask me, because I think they need a soldier who's physically strong.
Also your link don't work.

Sorry I probably should have made that more clear; I meant to say that fake an illness prior to joining the army, say if I have a doctor's note saying I am physically unfit to go through the physical part of training or something.
Thanks for the help.

It's not meant to make you more obedient or anything like that. Sure, perhaps a little is, but that's not the point. Aaaaallll of that shit is done during your actual enlistment, and it's very subtle. You ease in to it.
No, the shit they put you through in boot camp is to simulate the stress of actual combat. You get used to it so when it actually happens, you've got muscle memory.

Then you won't go to basic and most likely will not even be allowed past entry processing which means you don't go to the military. Ever. Plain and simple. If you got any ailments, that's a failing grade.

lol @ backstabbing and FBI-informing. I never claimed to like anyone on this site and I've never once talked to the FBI other than for a background investigation.
I'm getting at this: you appear to want to get paid without doing any actual work. Most of those people get dropped at technical training if they don't get dropped in boot camp.

Well, then you'd just get pdq'd and not even be allowed to join the military. In america at least.

Re: Basic training/boot camp
i don't know why you'd want to skip out on basic training. it's supposed to help in every way possible. if you don't see that, then maybe the armed forces aren't exactly cut out for you.
