Is it suspicious to use a different return addres when shipping something?
I tried doing this today and after about the 10th package the lady over the counter asked if I was shipping from that location. I said I was doing it for a friend. The address is about 2,000 miles away. Is there anything suspicious about this? Also I paid cash so there wouldn't be any debit card paper trail. Lastly is it normal for post offices to NOT have cameras? One would think they do but every post office I've been to hasn't (I've been to 2).

Why not just ship from a random address in your town or the next town over?

Do you want it to be delivered on the return address? (I always do that when shipping without stamps, so it's 'returned to sender') If not, use an address nearby.

Don't know why I didn't think of that. I just used a random address finder. Next time I'll do that. And to the guy that mentioned drugs, its not what you think it is.

Dude just put your own address, or one in the same town at least. If they find illegal shit in it they will find where you live anyway putting a fake address or no address on it just makes it suspicious so they definitely WILL open it.

Re: Is it suspicious to use a different return addres when shipping something?
How would they find out who the shipper was? I always wondered this.. How is it possible to get caught if there is not a trail to you? (paid in cash, used a different address, they have no pictures of you, you raise no suspicion, ect.) How can you still get caught?

fingerprints, video of you entering store, or if they get it out of the recipient by pressure... but only if you've done something serious like ship 10 kilos of heroin

Besides the fact that pretty much every place has cameras somewhere then I guess not.

AHHH this makes much more sense now.. Lol HMMM I don't think that my finger prints are in the data base. Now what if the recipient uses a address, such as a foreclosed home, and picks it up that way? Would this still be a bad idea? Lol

the recipient doesn't need to be this cautious because he can just deny it and say he wasn't expecting a package

I suggest not doing the return address delivery thing for illegal wares.
You will get the postal service police involved.
and it's a crime in it's own. I think a felony.

One thing to do for the person picking up the package, have them go and pretend to pick it up and put it in a bag or something and walk away. If the cops don't come out and tackle him then he can go back and actually pick it up.

you guys are way to cautious, you can move things on a regular basis if you just use a fake return address, no fingerprints, and make sure the recipient is someone you trust.

The general location the package came from can be tracked.
ever notice all those barcodes and stamps they add to letters and packages when it is processed.

even if they can track the location, they can't prove that it was you who shipped the package... even if they can somehow prove it was you, they still can't prove that you had knowledge there was contraband in there

only if you ship like 10 kilos of coke they won't care, and you can always go to different locations and get different people to ship it for you

dude man no, you guys are over thinking it lol. just send it to a residential location that someone you know stays at. if you pick it up at a house that isn't your's you can't deny that you weren't expecting a package. if you're that paranoid you can just keep the package and not open it and if the cops show up just claim that you never opened it because it wasn't your's

no? the address would be correct so how would it be theft? if you ship it to a random house you can't deny that you weren't expecting a package, and it's extra sketchy staking out a stranger's house for hours lol

Would your name be on it? You would tell them you are just picking up a package with someone elses/ no name on it from in front of someone elses/ a vacant house? Pretty sure that constitutes theft.

Re: Is it suspicious to use a different return addres when shipping something?
I used my girlfriends return address a few times when she lives 600 miles away.
No one at the post office ever thought anything of it(AFAIK).
The items were legit items I was selling on her eBay(You can guess what happened to mine...), so I didn't really think anything of it either.
