Why does Ra say "I am Ra" before every answer? What did the word "ra" meant in ancient Egyptian?

My friend mentioned it being an egyptian god, but I am not entirely sure on this point.

Ra was the Egyptian sun god, and he featured in the royal titularies of Pharaohs from circa. 2000 BCE onwards (i.e., each pharaoh would have "Son of Ra" as part of their official title).
