The Nintendo Wii is the worst console Nintendo has ever made.

Yes it's even worse than the Virtual Boy. Obviously from a commercial point of view the Wii did very well. But purely as a console it's an absolute piece of shit. It took everything that was great about the Gamecube and made it gay. The Gamecube was a wonderful console. Really great graphics, games ran smoothly, very portable, 4 controller port, one of the best controllers of all time, small but very decent game library, etc...

So how did the Wii improve on this? By taking an original design, fucking it up and forcing a retarded controller scheme on its players. You know, I wish I could play some of the Wii titles on my Gamecube with the standard controller and just burn this piece of shit.

But I don't really have to say anything more about this. Anyone I know (and that includes zoklet faggots) who has a Wii has it sitting doing fuck all but collecting dust. When was the last time you sat down and really played a Wii game for longer than 15 minutes? That's right, you didn't do that since 2007.

Facepalm, all you want. It was a crap, and if Nintendo had stuck to the same game plan for the 7th gen that did with the Gamecube in the 6th. It would have sunk the ship.

Dreamcast was a way better system (aside from it's controllers) and even Sega had to throw in the towel. Sony and Microsoft were just that far ahead. Fuck, there's still shitloads of people playing PS2 today. They might even still put the odd game out, I know they were still releasing games for PS2 in early 2011. Madden 08 was the production game the Gamecube released, in well, 2008. PS2 still sold heavy well into the 7th gen. it was by far the best system of the last generation, even with it's obvious faults.

Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 are absolute works of genius when it comes to 3D platforming, you really thought "Can't get better than this" with SMG1 and then they put out SMG2 and totally smashed away criticism that the original had to make a platformer practically perfect in every way. Zelda: Skyward Sword is a masterpiece, both artistically and gameplay-wise, where they have a big, engrossing world full of great characters and a story to compete with the best of fantasies. Mario Kart Wii came out and made the series even faster and Super Smash Bros Brawl is the ultimate fanservice game and it really is quite fun (I still prefer Melee, though). They're still putting out great games, they just shifted the hardware focus because the start of this generation was fucking retarded. $600 consoles were LOL.

They did sell alright. Around 21 million units. So it's hard to say they were broke, but that's not what I was getting at. i was reffering more to their market share, which was continuously slipping. Microsoft had a lead on them of about 3 million units.

Then you have Sony, which has sold 154 million units of the PS2.

Had Nintendo kept treading the same course and released another Gamecube, they would have lost out big time in this generation. Instead, they tried something different and the Wii has the clear lead in the race for units sold right now. 95 million or so, while PS3 and 360 are booting around neck and neck back in the mid 60 million area.

Fact of the matter is that Gamecube sucked. It reflected in it's shitty sales. A handful of hardcore Gamecube fanboys got butthurt hard by the Wii, but numbers speak. The price point, and new direction Nintendo took, paid off for them.

Brawl kicked ass. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn was another badass release for the Wii that i really liked.

Anyway, the issue with the Wii is obviously the controller. All I ever wanted from Wii games is to be able to play them with the classic/gamecube controller. That's it. That's not even an issue. You can just have it sitting in your lap while you move it around slightly. Hell, in Skyward Sword, you dont even have to point it at the screen, you can have it pointing WAY off camera the whole game and you'll be fine. I played the whole game lying down on my couch.

Honestly, I've never had an issue with Skyward Sword's controls. And I'm not just trying to embellish, I truly did NOT experience any issues with the controls. On occasion, I had to re-center the controller by hitting down, but that's because of the position I was in. Either point at the screen or just press down and forget about it.

Ever play Boom Blox? That's one game that definitely CANNOT be done with a gamepad.

Same goes for WarioWare, Mario Party, the rail shooters like Dead Space Extraction, House of the Dead, Ghost Squad, and the Resident Evils, even Trauma Center/Trauma Team.

Yeah I agree with you in that a lot of games definitely didnt need motion controls (I'm looking at you, Kirby and Donkey Kong), but I can't say that it was ever anything to completely blow off because of it.

You had to re-center the controller far to often with Skyward sword. Now, I know that this is my fault because of the way I'm holding the damn thing. But that's the issue I have with the game in the first place. I don't want to have to take some gay stance when I play a video game. The greatest feature consoles have over PC is that you can play them in a more relaxed position. The Wii completely ruins this feature. You have to get awkward to play. I have a Wii, and I bought it so I could play the new versions of my favorite old classic Nintendo games.. like Mario Galaxy & Mario Galaxy 2, Zelda: Twilight Princess (Ok so it's a gamecube game, but I can still buy it for Wii without spending money on a gamecube for one game), Zelda: Skyward sword, Mariokart, Donkey Kong Country, Super Smash Bros, New Super Mario Bros WII.. I can't play those on XBOX or Ps3, so I bought a Wii.

I've enjoyed the hell out of it too.

I almost didn't buy twilight princess because it got an 8.8.. and these guys must know what they're talking about. That being said, it was a great game, but I got to the boss of the sky temple, and it was easy, but I went into it with one heart and died, and then I lent my Wii out for like 4 months.. when I got it back, I never found the time or desire to play through the rest of it.

Yeah, the Wii pretty much sucks. I still haven't played Mario Galaxy 2 or Skyward Sword, because
A) they're like £40 when I can get an awesome game on Steam for like a tenner,
and B) the Wiimote sucks with my old rear projection tv. I dunno if it's the tv itself, or the height the top of the screen is above my sofa, but it's super iffy playing games with it that require the Wiimote.

Now I did play Metroid Prime 3 at my old place, and it worked pretty well, though I had lined up the tv perfectly with where I sat on my bed, and had to sit bolt upright, which is not relaxing. But I can't really say that I played through MP1 and 2 on GC noticing any major lack in the controls.

But for fast action games, the Wiimote is useless. I played Smash Bros Brawl with Wiimotes recently (they didn't have controllers for some reason) and it was so bad.

And like Mario Galaxy, honestly for all the amazing settings and levels, was actually not really that good. They managed to take Mario 64; where he has like 20 moves he can do, punches, dives, backflips, long jumps etc, just an amazing fluidity of control; and dumb it down so he has like 2 ways to kill an enemy- jump on them, or stun them with the star bits and spazz the remote and spin into them.

I couldn't really disagree with Snoopy. all of the games I put really any play in to were ports of other older games from older consoles (RE4, Okami, Twilight Princess) and all the best exclusives could have came out on the gamecube years prior and been just as great (Super Mario Galaxy, Madworld, Metroid Prime 3).

I think they'll get it right with the Wii U. but it's really what the Wii should have been in the first place.
