I'm a computer enthusiast, but my gaming rig is in Atlanta and I haven't seen it in a long time. I built a top notch rig back in 06 right as Core2Duo (conroe) was released. The day it hit the market I got that bitch, had a near fully complete rig waiting just for that. I learned my lesson about buying the highest performing hardware, spent $2600 on that bitch, tried to sell it a year later for $1000, no bites. It was one hell of a rig, though. I was playing CS:S at over 250 fps with power to spare. That with some Sennheiser HD-555s paired up with a Xfi Fatal1ty sound card (fucking $300 at the time, but I am an audiophile and it had 64mb of it's own RAM. Not a whole lot of games took advantage of it, though.

It's not wasting money if you enjoy it and actually value it. You just stick to playing your consoles and leave the PC guys to do exponentially more shit than a console. When consoles are released they possess somewhat deprecated hardware. Besides, PC gaming is much more precise.
