PI INFRACTION? Harsher penaltys for repeat offenders?

I merged a lot of posts here from BI Retard thread where there seemed to be more controversy about the recent PI LEAKS... I feel this need a larger audience then the BI regulars and deserved its own thread.

So there are a number of members that done agree with the current point system for PI LEAKS INFRACTION 14days and 10points.

Maybe there should be a harsher penalty for the habitual offenders?>

Here is where everyone can discuss the issue.

My feelings on PI are, Its the internet, don't post things up you don't want people to see or know, if you do, well, then its out there...

I could dig, but I have no real interest. Most people with a little direction could get PI on anyone.

I haven't seen anything super problematic with peoples PI other than trolls getting upset, or others that pissed off others and hid behind their screens.

I said it before, the people that want to contact me will, they want to find PI on me? then they will. My PI is out there, people that know how to find it or know where to look could easily meet up and express there intentions in person. Just be prepared for an appropriate response.

Part of "Hacker Games" is removing yourself from the net. Google searches, boards, social media sites, etc... Maybe thats something people should look into that are genuinely concerned about their personal life.

I understand that. ANYONE that links a pic, the website that hosts the pic has your IP.

This is how it works, you imbed a link of a pic for a a post. Even if you need click on it, the BROWSER issues a "GET" command for the thumbnail. Thus your IP is exposed. Anyone with a blackberry would know this because of all the prompts that it says and even says " Your location could be compromised "

I'm not defending anyone here. Just a simple ticker in your sig would capture IP's, browser type, OS, type of computer, etc. Easily can reference the Time stamps of the posts with the time frame a particular IP was on a page.

On the other hand, haven't you people learned anything from BI? USE PROXIES OR TOR OR SOCKS etc. Then all this is a moot point. You can also install other tattle tale apps or adjust your browser settings and forum specific settings.

Don't accept PM's from users you don't know...

As far as the hacker games, thats not a zoklet thing. Its another thing entirely.

If I don't know a user, I click on their username and research whats going on first as to a clue why they would be contacting me. If it is a suspicious user, I don't bother reading it.

yes. But not with a simple browser query "GET" for a pic. which is all the exploit was here. And it wasn't even a real exploit. All that happened was he read the IP's

But configuration and proper usage is the issue. Not the tools.

I really wish it would have been a Mod's IP. Then you guys would have actually done something. But since it's us regular users it's good to know the protocol for what happens.

OND is a very smart fellow. Someone should give that man a job to utilize his talents. And a few MODS and ADMINS were affected as well if I remember correctly. I can't disclose too much more, but this isn't the first time he or someone else has done this or something similar.

It does not take a genius to hack someones IP. Sure it takes some skill but if this is what this dude spends his time doing instead of doing something constructive then he is obviously not that stable/bright.

If you understand peoples frustration then he should be permabanned. Yes he did on an ALT account but it was established that it was him. I understand the points for spreading PI, but like it was said before it was multiple people

Glad to know that as long as someone posts something about someone in their sig it could be "justified" in your eyes. Maybe I should start posting all the PI I have because I feel as if I'm "justified" due to you guys doing nothing.

By chance could you link me to a thread with your PI? I'd love to write your boss a note and tell him you browse Zoklet and have your life effected. Get my point now? Get why things like this should get a person permabanned when its not one person but 15 people and more than one of them have a job that if their bosses knew they browsed this site might get them a formal investigation?

I have never said he was justified. I was grasping at straws. I have no idea what transpired. My main focus in the forums has been BI and G&G. I rarely browse other sections.
2. Post what ever you please, just don't get upset for the consequences of your actions. As a corrections officer, you obviously deal with accountability on a daily basis.
3. "You Guys" should be more directed in A THREAD IN THE APPROPRIATE SECTION.
4. I'm not defending anyones actions here. I have had 1 or 2 interactions with OND and we were able to have a civil conversation without conflict. If I remember correctly.

I did not see the list. I was informed about it a couple hours after it was taken down in the Ond is banned thread. I believe it was IP's and addresses, whatever it was, it should not be tolerated for one, and it definitely should result in a permaban. I know he can just make alts but at least if he keeps getting banned maybe he will decide to cut the shit out at one point, or maybe not I do not even know the dude nor do I remember ever having a conversation with him which makes it even more frustrating as to why he even leaked my PI, probably had nothing to do with people who pissed him off, he probably just did it to anyone he could because well he has no life. I know you are not a admin so you really have no say in what the rules are I am just expressing my opinion on the matter.

Yea, but you interpret the rules. The way I interpret the rule located on the FAQ:Infraction page is that each instance is a 14 day ban. So, if you post 10 people, that's 140 days. Also, you could definitely interpret the word "persistent" to mean a mass PI dump, and therefore a single post with multiple PI could be a permaban

Well I'm gonna answer this one: I joined back BEFORE I had the job and because the rules of this site don't allow me to remove my account and posts from this site and the quoted posts, then I'm SOL now aren't I? That really shouldn't be the case.

Multiple things:

- It was actually roughly 20 people so it should be 20 different infractions with the time that adds to the end (Like compound interest. Example: I had 5 3 point infractions and was banned for 3 months instead of getting like a month to a month and a half ban like it should have been. 20 10 point infractions at 200 points or so would be pretty much a perma-ban since there seems to be a compound interest type thing in the system already.

- PI rules are broken and have been. With the LSD incident this has been brought up and this is just the tip of the iceburg.

- He's done this many times already and only got a warning (Actually 2 of them, 1 from Lanny (For spreading my PI) and 1 from Unwyred (Spreading both my and Slag's PI) to my knowledge,) and once unbanned he'll most likely just do it again and again. This shows that two things are wrong with this picture: a) He has a history of doing this and this is only his first ban and b) Why are warnings given for something that is a bannable offense?

- Of all the people on the list he leaked NONE of us know WHY he has a problem with us and my issues started with him when he would sit in trrt chat with a picture of me as his avatar for hours a night, for the last month or so. No idea why at all though as far as I can tell I did nothing to him.

- If this PI leaking only gets 14 days for a list of PI all it's gonna do is set a prescient for people to beat one another in gaining that top dog slot in exposing PI. It's already happening in PMs of throwaway alts to mass members spreading LSD's PI, Kellyphilly's PI, etc... Eventually it's gonna go public... actually Ond brought it public as the list he had was the one that's been circulating in PMs for the last month or so.


We all know this wont get fixed until the Mod's lives are bothered by this. What's the point in even trying to fix this. It becomes more and more apparent that the Mods want this site to become dead with each and every PI exposure they do the bare minimum about... like give warnings instead of infractions on this.

Seriously give us a good reason why PI leaking deserves anything but a temp ban minimum.

True but they pretty much aren't here anymore. It's why none of the suggestions in here that are wanted/needed to be implemented have been done. If an Admin had been effected and even was slightly active as in checking the site twice a week perchance then you better believe it would have been done rather quickly.

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but it seems you're missing the point.

This isn't about how or why the info got out. I know you're just giving advice, but the main issue here is that a user harvested information from others without their knowledge or consent, and posted it without their knowledge or consent.

It doesn't matter if this could have been avoided if more people used tor or proxies. I'm sure there's plenty of rape victims out there that could have avoided being stuffed if they didn't wear such slutty clothes. Doesn't mean they're at fault, and it doesn't mean the offender should get a lighter sentence.

Ond is one of the most hateful, spiteful, malicious users on this site and this is not the first time he's done this shit. People have been permabanned for less, just look at users like DaGuru and TK Baha.

He leaked the private information of forty users (I noticed some people have been saying fifteen, but that's not right), and only gets one 10-point infraction for it. The punishment for pretending to leak a single person's PI is exactly the same. And that's just bullshit.

And this is all on top of the fact that this guy contributes nothing and his only purpose on the site is to follow around and harass other users, all the while harvesting PI so he can just post it again. Not to mention he's just an annoying fuck, and a complete and total asswipe in general. There is no reason why he shouldn't be permabanned.
