First of all,
Australian info *only* please, there seems to be a lack of it for this kind of thing. And I didn't know if I should post this in BLTC or BI, but I think it more belongs here in BLTC since I'd bet this crowd would more know the drug side of things, which is generally what I'm trying to educate myself about.
So, yes. This is a valid legit prescription for a Schedule IV substance ("Prescription Only Medicine".) It's a fairly small script for a common benzodiazepine. Anything identifiable has been blurred out and replaced with a red label saying what was there.
Some things are circled in blue or have a blue arrow pointing to them:
Prescriber number: a six digit number, I'm assuming this is unique to the doctor that issued the prescription.
Script ID: a six digit number that appears to be the number of the prescription issued. The script image I posted came with two others, all with consecutive script ID numbers and identical prescriber numbers.
Down the bottom right corner were some small, seemingly random numbers.
The back of the script has the name, address, and phone number of the issuing pharmacy, as well as a string of numbers and letters. Starts with two letters, then seven numbers. Not sure what that means. What does it mean?
A big question I have would be, how would you (hypothetically) photoshop this script so you can use it again and again? From what I can tell, they do not call the doctor to verify, I'm pretty sure from what I've seen that scripts that require verification to be dispensed have the details and a phone authority code on it. Anyway, I'd assume you'd need to change the script ID to something, and make sure it's one that hasn't been used before. Anybody know any more about that?
Also, does the prescriber number get cross checked to make sure it matches up with the name of the issuing doctor? Does anybody know what else they check up on in the pharmacy when you hand over a script? And obviously, it'd be suspicious to go trying to get a script for 90x 2mg Xanax per month, I bet that'd require phone verification, obviously you'd have to be sensible about it.
Finally, generally when I get a script from a doctor, they just hit a button on their computer and it prints out a printed prescription, which they sign and then hand over to me. Anybody know what software they use, or have any idea on how to acquire this prescription paper?
thanks zoklet
