Ghost Lines. Have you herd of them?
AlliCat was recently talking to a friend who was telling AlliCat a scam she used to put.
She called this Ghost Lines and this is how it would work:
She had a formula that would allow her to use a random name and create a supposedly valid Social Insurance Number (S.I.N.) and drivers license. She would then call up a cable/internet/phone company and have any one or all of those services hooked up to her house and she wouldn't pay the bill and once they got disconnected she would do it with another name.
She then got smart and would get a HD DVR with her cable that were worth 499 and she would collect them and sell them to friends. She also would hook up any of those services for them for $50.
She said this formula is what is used to issue a person their (S.I.N.) so when they search for it nothing comes back so it looks as if the person hasn't established credit.
Is any of this true?
If so could you give me this formula?
Also AlliCat has an idea if this would work. This is her idea:
AlliCat creates a fake person and then applies to a cell phone company and gets 2-4 phones on a 3 year contract for 0 down and has them sent. She then destroys the sim cards and sells the phones. She would then do this to about 3 carriers.
She would also apply for a bank account online and apply for a few credit cards. Withdraw $200-$300 a week from each card.
She then destroys all evidence of this person and makes a new one.

You have deeply interested my friend in doing some real research into obtaining a brand new identity.
This site may answer some questions(and rasies 50 more)

Re: Ghost Lines. Have you herd of them?
Sound s like a pretty stupid fucking idea. Unless you plan on moving constantly too. "Oh, look some jackass ditched on their bills that they signed up for our services with a fake ID and shit. Where on earth would we ever find this person?" Right...
Also, do they seriously hand out credit cards like that to people with zero credit in the states? I mean, they sure as fuck don't just deal them out like that here...
The only part of the entire post that sounds even somewhat feasible is the cellphone scheme. The rest of it sound sliek either complete bullshit, or a very good way to wind your ass up under investigation...

They sure do. In the US (and probably many other places), they arent allowed to penalize you for having a lack of established credit. I know people that got crazy credit limits on their first credit card when they turned 18
To OP, this sounds like complete bullshit. I seriously doubt this is true. If it was true, you are stupid for failing to find anything better to do with such information. Ever hear of the saying "Dont shit where you eat"? Doing something like this would land you in serious trouble, and doing it for free cable tv is pretty stupid.

Really? Because when I went to get my first credit card with no established credit, I was outright denied. I probably got denied on 3 or 4 of them before I had to actually go down to the bank, setup an appointment, discuss things with the guy at the bank to prove that I had a reliable income, then have him contact the credit card company to have me approved as part of a "credit building strategy" that we were working on. I never had bad credit, and never had so much as a blip on my credit history. I don't know a single person who with no credit, just threw an application out and got approved for a credit card here in Canada. You've actually got to jump through a few hoops to get setup.

Re: Ghost Lines. Have you herd of them?
All your guys' buddies should apply for the bottom of the pile shit credit. Although you need a job, address and some history of paying bills. getting a card for like 5004 isnt hard at all, but don't expect any reward programs or good instrest rates, if they even matters if your buddy is just going to ditch it anyway.

Yeah, they cant discriminate against you for a lack of credit history. Most people usually have something on their credit history (library card, old medical bill, cell phone bill, etc). But if you're amish, and have absolutely nothing, they cant use that against you. I dont know about Canada, but the US is usually pretty eager to lend.
Note: the 'dont shit where you eat' is referring to OP's idea of having all this fake info/fraudulent accounts at the same address that he lives at. Very stupid.

Interesting. I mean, it's not like it was hard to get one or anything, but they did make me jump through some hoops and it took a couple weeks to get everything squared away.

This is basically what my first post was getting at. After the second account gets shitcanned for lack of payment and they find out it's all fake info, guess who's coming to do your third installation? lol

None of it would be done at my home address. I was just stating what a person i knew claimed to have done with this.
She figured that if that formula actually existed then maybe it would be possible to do the credit card thing and cell phone thing. She figured for the credit card thing she could have it registered to a place where someone had just moved into in hopes they think its an old resident and mark return to sender and she would go at night and take it out of the mail box. She is still thinking how she would pull off the cell phones, it would require more planning.
But in other words i was asking if you guys thought that this person was full of shit and if not, could it be adapted for a bigger pay off. AlliCat has a scam she has been planning that could get her a BIG payout but requires the use of 3 credit cards over an extended period of time.
P.s. would using photo shop to make fake pay stubs and fake utility/other miscellaneous bills help in getting a credit card?

yes, this person is full of shit. There are ways to decode SSNs and SINs, but that will only tell you the year they signed up and where they signed up. My SSN for example, 212-04-1192, can be decoded to show that I was born in Maryland in 1983

cell phone plan wouldn't work either. They now require you to pay for them before they ship them.

Just because they're whoring them out at you doesn't mean you're insta-approved on them. In a lot of cases the people throwing them at you get a commission on every person they sign up successfully. So there is incentive to whore the fucking things like mad.

man, if only there were some way for the cable company to figure out where you live once they catch on to this brilliant scam.

That was my thoughts but her explanation was the cable company wont really investigate and that the installers don't care because they are paid per install if they report a scam and don't install they don't get paid.
Like i said before i was asking if the principal of using the algorithm used to make S.I.N.s and drivers licenses would work. AlliCat had some bigger plans but now they don't look to be possible.
P.S. is there a thread dedicated to getting CC's in a fake name?

Re: Ghost Lines. Have you herd of them?
I do not think there is a magic formula or algorithm for SSN's. If there were, that shit woulda gotten jacked a long time ago.
You could just make up a SSN, but they can cross check it with the government.
http://www.ssa.gov/employer/ssnv.htm
This government website says so, and we play by their rules
