Question Getting the most out of amphetamine (tips 'n' tricks?)

I've never been able to get much out of this drug, but people (including Paul Erdős, for a fancy example) seem to love it - if not for recreational effects, then certainly for help in studying, working, or socializing.

I can't seem to enjoy it, though, or even make use of it. For me, the body load is very high. I tend to get hot and cold flashes, or maybe just get cold every once in a while from all the sweat; I get jittery/nervous energy*; and the comedown comes in waves (starting very early: I feel down... I feel good! No, down again...) - fairy unpleasant. (*Note that it doesn't cause me actual anxiety - feels more like part of the body load than anything mental.)

Some of this is unavoidable, and I can handle it to some extent. I just want to feel comfortable while taking the drug, so I can use it to help me study, or make my onerous and draining job more bearable. Knowing what you undoubtedly do about the action of amphetamine , can you suggest ways to make the experience a better one?

Combining it with a benzo is known to help reduce the jitters, and forcing yourself to eat something prevents your body from running itself down; I also find it helps to stay well-hydrated and clean, and to have some cannabis for the comedown. Does anyone know of any other trips or tricks to get the most out of your amphetamine binge? Other combinations of drugs, physical maintenance, certain foods - whatever works.

I would smoke one cigarette after another to keep the high going, also caffeine. Keeping yourself busy doing something like games or music will always decrease the nervous feeling.

If you're taking it orally (like Erdos, e.g adderall or other mixed salt preparations) combine with a calcium based antacid to boost uptake and minimise crash & downregulation symptoms). Magnesium supplements to cut down on bruxism. Skip the benzos, look at a beta blocker to deal with jitters. Cannabis for the comedown helps. Liquid foods (like smoothies, protein shakes, that sorta thing) will keep you fuelled even when you don't want to eat... smoke tobacco to excess, gatorade or other electrolyte replenishing beverages if you sweat a lot... Caffeine can help, but you'll get tetchy - And skip the coffee, go for energy drinks, or if you need that bean fix, get it iced. Comfy clothes, air conditioning and something to snug into while working (BLANKIES!). Remember to rest your eyes periodically and get some long-focal work every couple of hours. Have suitable music on hand, but not going constantly.

While nicotine may be more pleasurable or frequently sought after, more often than not it will speed up the metabolism of most drugs as a rule of thumb.

This man speaks the truth! just as someone who is a fan of Adderal for getting shit done, some little elaborations on the above...

-Pack the calories where you can sneak them in. Amphetamines seriously reduce appetite (at least in my case) so when you mix up that smoothie, mix in some yogurt and some peanut butter (both high calorie and tasty!) A few times I've gone the entire day without eating and when I crashed it was terrible headaches and stomach cramps, so try to set an eating schedule and eat every three hours or so even if you don't feel like it. Remember your burning more calories sitting still than someone who is lightly jogging.

-Cook food before hand, its tough to cook anything when your not hungry so having something set up in the fridge that you can just heat up. Also munchies particularly sweet things on hand can help you get in some extra nutrition.

-Try coconut water or OJ, its refreshing, high in potassium and a good way to fight dry mouth.

-For maximum productivity make a list of things that you need to do and have a timer go off at 20 min intervals, whenever it does recheck the list and make sure you're on task. Personal I'm very easily distracted while using, I often need to resist the compulsive urge to clean and stay on task.

-Gum or dip can help to alleviate dry mouth a bit, also it helps to brew a big pitcher of tea and just have it on hand. Speaking of, Don't skimp on the tooth care, dry mouth is bad for you teeth and worst for your breath.

-On the come down have a beer or two, they at least help me to unwind a bit and tend to get help stimulate hunger.

-Stretch every hour or so, helps to reduce jitters and teeth clenching. I like to use eye drops and keep my eyes shut while I'm doing this it helps relieve eye strain, as my eyes tend to be a bit dry on the stuff.

-Last and most important, don't let the stuff disrupt your sleep schedule. The half life of amphetamines is ~12 hours so dose accordingly. While it may feel like a great idea to pull and all nigher you'll pay for it the next day when you're dosing just to stave off the urge to sleep. You're taxing your body by taking the stuff so get some rest, being a speed zombie is no fun at all.
