As for trying trying to drown out the rap you might try Coltrane's "A Love Supreme". That's EXACTLY what happened to me. Had a best friend since junior high, we always hung out, partied, slept over at each others houses, etc.

My 21st birthday it was me, him and another close friend. The close friend kept badgering him that he was in the closet, I guess he saw something I didn't because he came out to us that night.

It didn't change my relationship with him at all, if anything it brought us closer. He never tried anything gay with me since we were kids and not since he came out either. Even if he did, I'd shrug it off or flirt with him to fuck with him. But that never happened.

He messed around with a couple guys for a while but deep down I think he was just in a transitional phase. He doesn't fuck with guys anymore and no longer labels himself as gay, actually bi, but he's primarily into girls. It wouldn't matter either way, just saying, just rying somethin with another man doesn't make you gay, just as if you tried heroin once it doesn't make you a junkie or if you do crack a few times it doesn't make you a crackhead.

People are always changing and evolving, it's part of growing and acheiving maturity. Rarely is it a reason to judge them. How you react to others changes is something that down the line that they'll remember about you for life. Don't lose a good friend because they are experimenting or having substance problems.

You don't have to agree with them or understand them, just be accepting and remember why you were friends to begin with.

In contrast, most pathetic neckbeards eventually settle for someone who will fuck them, usually someone as desperate as themselves. Eventually they will marry, have children and move out of their parents basements. Maybe he'll get his shit together and be a kickass father. Maybe he won't, but he'll probably knock someone up before he dies, it's not really an accomplishment.
