i found that when i was homeless. there is a real sense of total freedom being able to just go anywhere whenever you like, for as long as you like. that's one thing i miss from being homeless. not saying its not often a struggle, but it also toughens you up well and puts you in a much better stead for the world than being some middle class twat of a kid leeching off his parents till he's 30.

and there's different types of homeless people. there are those who are just useless cunts that drink and have pretty much given up on life and don't care. and there are those that are pretty resourceful and can make good in most situations. ignorant self-serving idiots tend not to see the difference cause thinking they are better than others helps make them feel better. they tend to get a huge smack in the face and wake up at some point, and it usually stings them a lot when it happens.

good blog OP. i read about how you get into buildings with intercoms and thought i'd share a trick i used to use. if they have mail boxes inside the door or in the doors to the apartments themselves. then call up say 43, and say you have a birthday card or letter that you need to post to number 51(don't say next door cause they probably know them and might ask their name), but there is no answer and you don't have time to come back. as long as you sound ok most people will just buzz you in to post it. i'd say it would work for me about 9 out of every 10 times. and if it doesn't just call another apartment. i can only remember 1 time i tried that and some old woman insisted on coming down to the door and collecting the letter from me herself, but by the time she was down i was gone, lol.

If I were homeless I'd steal/jack a car, park it somewhere secluded, and sleep in that. You could have pretty much permanent accommodation.

for regular punk, I'd go with bands like Leftover Crack, Star Fucking Hipsters, The Casualties, etc.

Recommend me punk bands if you can.

I have no idea to drive and I really don't wanna do that. If I get caught, cops will not cut me any slack.

Awesome, i hope you like it!
Additionally, I assume you have a lot of spare time, since you're not tied down by big responsibilities. What do you do in your spare time?
Also, I'm a big urban explorer in my area, how many cool, abandoned urban buildings are there in NYC. I've never been there, myself.

Well in my spare time, I've been learning Dutch actually. I have a friend in the Netherlands who I want to talk to more in her language and plus learning another language is a good skill.

Since Occupy Wallstreet has been around, I don't fuck with squats or do urban exploration here. Cops have been busting down on all of that which I find ridiculous. A lot of people at Occupy wallstreet are gutter punks or they camp out in that shitty park or squat somewhere. I don't fuck with it. I have access to many different roofs around the city which is where I usually sleep. No one has given me a problem so far since I clean and I'm very polite and if someone asks me to leave, I'm out.

I'm going to SoCal sometime this summer. A friend and I are saving money for the trip, trying to go by bus, I really don't wanna hitchhike and the only train yards around aren't friendly at all.

I've got some food tips:

dumpster diving
portable grills
the 99 cent store (not only is it cheap but most places rarely give a fuck about shoplifting)
fresh fruit from trees
FOOD STAMPS
food shares

I saw on your blog post that you don't give a fuck about eating healthy but I've got to say (and I speak with the experience of about 3 years on the streets in the past 6 years) that not only is it possible to eat healthy and cheaply but if you're homeless its almost necessary. eating healthy will make you stronger, smarter, and feel better. fruit and veggies are cheap (and generally easy to lift) and a nice snack, as are various nuts and seeds. meats can be much harder to obtain and then cook but you can generally find some precooked stuff. used to lift a lot of crab and lobster back in the day...caviar, as long as its just in a jar and not an entire package is also easy to lift and fairly nutritious.

at one point, when I was very good at shoplifting food, a friend and I would wind up with steak, lobster, shrimp, caviar, cheese, wine, and bread. eating like fucking kings while homeless or broke as fuck is an amazing feeling. It's like...life can't get my down.

bonus points if you go to the library and study botany and edible/medicinal plants in the area. PRICELESS INFORMATION just double-triple check everything.

Still gotta figure out how to get food stamps. I'll probably just sell them and get weed, booze, and cigarettes instead. I can steal my own food.

I'm a resident of NJ so I don't know if I really wanna make the trip every time I gotta get food.

haha. your tits are awesome but a really good LP suspects everyone. I have a friend who works at CVS on night shift and has to basically act as LP and we have a lot of fun sitting around playing "guess who's a shoplifter". With all my experience as a shoplifter I've never been wrong once but the best people are always undetectable. It's all about awareness.

I don't know how it works in your state but here in Cali you have to go to a government building where these things are taken care of (either google it or ask some homeless friends) and you'll have a wait that's comparable to the DMV. They will then ask you some questions about your situation and pretty be 100% truthful as long as you don't incriminate yourself or say that you have a bunch of cash. Since you're homeless you should be able to get your card (and I'm assuming most of the other states use the debit-card like thing that cali has) activated within a few hours.

Here in CA you can't buy hot food from most places (so forget most of the deli section and fast food) but there ARE certain places that for whatever reason this rule doesn't apply. For instance in my town there's a mexican meat market that also makes burritos and nachos and all kinds of amazingly dank food and I can buy a full hot meal with just my EBT. Apparently in LA you can even get subway and crap.

also if you're ever out in Cali we should kick it and compare notes and I'll try not to stare at your tits too much because my girlfriend would probably get jealous.

That must be really fuckin' convenient

I'm not houseless [yet] but for food I always biked to the market so I had to carry a huge backpack to bring things home. I just hooked it onto the back of the cart while wandering the store, and everything small/expensive was slipped right in to the bag while turning a corner/stealthy move distractions in case of LP/cameras. Usually several types of expensive cheese, coldcuts, maybe some steak. Waltz up the front, pay for my cheap bread/produce, then open up my bag and pack everything right on top of the loot. Not entirely free, but in general it's a good idea to buy at least one thing when you're lifting.

i think food stamps can be used in another state they're not granted in. Just use it as debit or ebt and you should be fine.

Is EBT statewide? I'm going tomorrow to NJ to check it out. I gotta get out these clothes and get in my homeless clothes haha

This site is INCREDIBLY helpful, but I'm sure you know of it: http://punknomad.com
I browse it a lot actually. A lot of people on there pricks so I don't post often.

No. I actually found about mischief brew because one day I was on youtube and I just typed in "Coffee, God, and cigarettes," in the search bar. I don't know why I did but it opened my music taste in such wide horizons a long time ago. Folk punk > punk imo.

Its April/May, it doesn't snow yet. Haven't been homeless for long (Not this time, I have been homeless while it snowed, stayed at a friend's house for while, big mistake). Now whenever it rains, I sleep in a stairway in a couple of places, switch it up every night so no one suspects shit.

Well, you're made of sterner stuff than me. I'm a real pansy when it comes to creature comforts. I like being warm and I love cooking/eating good food - so, I doubt I would last even a day a a homeless person.

As long as you're happy and enjoying yourself, though! Good for you! Just be sure to stay safe, okay?

So there's plug sockets on park benches now, well that explains everything...

You chose a life of degredation and poverty because your a work shy ass hole. Your only accepting the situation your in through denial of the reality that is:

1. You can't be fucked working like normal human beings because your a dead beat wanker who thinks they are missing out during working hours. The only people you could possibly be "missing", is other spastic losers like yourself.

2. You blame your mother for kicking you out because you quit your job, GOOD ON HER! She has beat you since you were 2, life's a bitch. So if you didn't quit your job you would have stayed and got beaten by your mother who is half your size? Regardless of being an ass hole she is right, why should she work whilst you do fuck all but be a bum? Can't be fucked Getting up early, part of most jobs. Little sleep, get to bed early.

Why the fuck on god's green earth should i part with a single penny to give to some piece of shit tramp who is just too lazy to work. I see your types from time to time, hanging outside job centers, drinking, i feel fucking sick just looking at them. If i were to murder them i would only be doing them a favor so i guess smashing their faces in would suffice. I too have worked since the age of 11, paper round, milk round, landscape gardening, building, bar/restaurant work, factory. I hated the fucking lot, but do you know, it made me want to better myself more. I'll be going back into education soon so i'll have a lot more to handle than just unsociable hours and getting up early.

The reason you hate yuppies so much is because they are everything you are not. They have worked to get were they are so yes, they do have the right to complain about their life because they are living it. You however, are a succubus living on the edge of society, leeching off hardworking people.

Concluding this i must say i don't hate all homeless people, not the ones that actually DID work before falling on hard times, just the ones that choose to be a bum.
