Exclamation Ebay detecs

so im hanging out in the bay, checking out some random items, and i see that this buyer has bought an item recently. some cisco internet router type thing...

then i notice their username is "ciscoprivateeye"

here they are. http://myworld.ebay.com/ciscoprivateeye

so check it out. this ebayer has bought ONLY cisco brand items, and never sold a thing. even better- the feedback they leave is always as if they were the seller (i.e. they say "fast payment, etc etc), even though they are always buying. seems super fishy to me, and the name isnt very subtle either

you guys think this account will bid on items that are maybe reported as missing or stolen and then work with IT to attempt to trace part and manufacturer ID #s and then come after you? kinda seems that way... but seriously? cisco private eye?

I've heard stories of law enforcement purchasing stolen items off of eBay to catch the seller. Although I would imagine them to use a more discrete eBay ID

They've watched items being sold on EBay/Amazon for a long time.

A lot of items have serial numbers. I'm not sure, but OTC medicines have "LOT" numbers, and I think it's similar to a serial number.

I would imagine they are more likely to target a seller that sells a medium/large amount of one type of item in a short amount of time, rather than someone selling a lower amount of different types of items over time.

Don't know either way... though it does seem that it's a pattern that a normal person would not be repeating, I'd avoid them. Add them to my buyer blocklist etc. Report anything bought by them as unavailable due to damage, etc.

Yeah, I looked over the profile too... 2003 started buying. I wouldn't sell them anything. That has trap written all over it.

If anything, I would sell any questionable items overseas on EBAY UK, EU, AU, etc...

To me it looks like whenever there is a spike in Cisco loss, they come online and buy tons of stuff trying to find the missing items.

yeah and since 03 only 100 something buys. there has def. been more cisco shit stolen and reported than 100 things since 2003, so i dont really get it. i just hate that paypal/ebay tells your location when youre selling, so they could narrow down who you are if they already had suspicions.

When there are trends, or big losses at a location(S) I would assume they send in these people to see if they can find it online. I don't know, say 4 schools just had all there routers/ap's disappear in a close amount of time.

anyway OP, just make up stealth accounts and sell these fuckers non existent 3 grand cisco servers and fleece them, if you think that's what they're doing. if they are so intent on buying it then use dummy accounts to ghost bid so you get max dollar out of them.
