Needs Admin: Full Post Record Retrieval!

So yeah, I made another thread similar to this one asking for increased search result limits. That happened and it was good, but there's stuff where you really need to get a poster's full post history. Honestly I don't care how this happens. I've been dealing with vBs horrible inline CSS, inconsistent tag use, and god awful design for long enough now to get through it. What I think would be best (and simplest to implement) would be a plaintext page that returns the raw results of a DB query.

Something like "select post_id from posts where poster_id=?". It would be dead simple, easy as pie to access, and wouldn't force me to make a ton of search requests looking for relevant posts.

But what about spamming? What's to keep someone from making thousands of queries against Trusted Doctor Watson or Vizier or another prolific poster? Well honestly nothing. BUT you can cause nearly as much damage just using vB's search function and rolling through a random selection of posters. Additionally, if that's off the table, you could chunk it up and deliver the results in 1000 post id batches. Hell, throw in a bunch of html and inline CSS at the end and it will be perfectly equivalent to the search function in terms of server load.

I can hear it now though: "Lanny, what would anyone use this for"? Well the answer is manifold! We could use it to make mass post deletion possible (which is a good thing goddamnit ). There is a lot of cool analysis that becomes possible when we can search over an entire post history. And who knows what new and zany things people could come up with if they had the tools necessary!

Every single post that would be visible through this method is perfectly visible anyway. The only difference is it's now in a format that lets us actually do something with it programatically. If I wanted to mass delete someone's posts from one of my forums I could do it with only the search function. The current system doesn't protect you from mods at all, all it does is keep you from being able to manipulate your own posts.

It's also a soft deletion versus hard deletion; easily fixed by reapproving them in a very similar fashion, which this change would also benefit. Really, all you niggas is as dumb as a pile of rocks. The search function works just fine for that now, unless you actually think sorting through thousands upon thousands of posts by hand is fun. All the info that could be gathered through a full post retrieval system could be gathered anyway, it just makes it useful for programmatic post access/manipulation. Any search results over this number will be discarded. (insert number here)

There is a limit that you can increase based on your requirements. I have it set higher than Zoklet but just for testing I removed the limit. I can now search through all of my posts and threads but there is a downside to this.

For some reason it can't show the first few posts or the last pages. Like in the posts section it would show 14000+ posts and 323 pages but whenever you jump to 323 it won't show any results.

So, I don't know if enabling this option would actualy work unless you create a hack for it. In any case, the performance impact from query is still a lot, so I am limiting it to a decent number as before.

Oh and this change really takes 30 seconds at best.

Basically it allows you to view your old posts, such as the ones that you created when you registered here. Right now, it caps the search results to 500. With ulimited it can go back to 2009.

its actually 1k. you can tweak the setting to display between 50 or 100 posts per page but they can onnly show up to 1000 only.

I did this to lanny and holy shitt .... she knocked up 1000poasts in just 3 fucking lonely months.
